20th Anniversary Costs and Rewards

C’mon Bliz, don’t make me play the game.

I just pick a few things I work towards acquiring first and if I have time I’ll farm for all other items. Same approach I took with MOP Remix, work on a few mounts and mogs I really wanted, and anything extra is great.

This approach may not be for everyone, but it’s how I try and tackle these types of events.

If you look at Blizzard’s design decisions purely from a “How do I get people to play more?” perspective, most of the questionable ones make sense. It’s a fine line they tread between forcing burnout or making things so easy that people get everything they want very quickly. On that front, they usually gravitate towards maximising playtime first and then gradually increasing drop rates/currency acquisition. None of these tactics are new to long-time WoW players.

So how do you deal with it? Make a list of “must haves” and target those items just in case it doesn’t get easier to obtain currency. That way you’ll get your priority purchases even if the event ends with no changes. You can complain on forums - and many will - which, hopefully, will get Blizzard’s attention (hey, it worked for M+ gilded crests) but have a backup plan all the same. I promise you it’s less disappointing that way.

i couldn’t agree more. it’s only a celebration if they just mail me everything i like

Isn’t there a new system in place that cuts the cost of an items set every time you unlock a new one? I’d say that’s something.

Not if I say “Nuh-uh!”, plug my ears and sing “LALALALA” long enough.

Having to grind 5 hours each night for the entire event is not a meaningful choice. It’s a grind for the sake of grinding. Yes I can do it, but I would rather enjoy the event and go grind the 900 other things I have on my list.

With all things there is a sweet spot in the middle. Let’s find it and stay there ok.

I busted my butt for my t2 stormrage set. It was HARD. Getting 40+ people together, geared, keyed, coordinated back 20 years ago, that was pretty epic… I wear it as a sign of accomplishment. To know that a month from now every resto druid will be running around looking like a better version of me? That really ticks me off.

At the VERY LEAST… Those of us that slaved away for our Tier 2, should be awarded those remastered pieces free of any hoop jumping. Heck, they should be rolled out on a red carpet with balloons and a big fuss and honored as 20 year soldiers that have seen some stuff.

Making me grind for something I already put blood sweat and tears into seems wrong. We should receive some sort of naming prefix for how old our account is and for having our OG T2.

dude come on, it is a 20 yo game. The amount of required farm is more than my spotify hours…

Mine was a breeze as Warrior. We were the Flavor of the Month in Vanilla. It was raining epics… we gave those extra T2 plate epics to Clothies.

Anyway, on me, i hate Warriors T1 and T2 sets. I prefer its full Tier 0.5 set.

I went to Classic and got full Tier 1 and 2 for a Hunter. I have my ways in convincing Loot Council to shower me with Loots. RoFL. I got bored and left Classic… was bored from Raid Logging. Went back to Retail.

Not sure if i still want to have T2 Tmogs. Maybe, i will participate the Anniversary. But my expectations would be low.

Blizz: let me slow drip badges for dresses and gowns

You guys had it a little easier. Just leveling a resto druid was drudgery (still is). We needed you guys and… well, I guess we all needed each other back then. Now, no one even talks. Quick hookup, “GG” , and that’s it. Lol

Has anyone come up with a final figure on total cost to buy everything with each different currencies? Why are there so many darn currencies anyways geez?

Oh and can you buy it all from one character or do u need to play the class specific to buy the gear tmog stuff?

It’s offtopic to answer. But i got my ilevel 619 gun made by classic Trade chat. A lot of people answered on whisper. And the gun was made thru modern Crafting methods called Personal Order.

On Vanilla, talking is required. I remember in Classic, i encountered Elites at level 8? How would i kill those at low level? General chat was way to go. But Retail has modern way of doing that…It’s called Group Finder… under Customs. Anything you want to do as group, post it there.

But if you want just chat, nope i am not interested if you bought a new T shirt or your dog died.

I mean it does seem like a huge grind for everything, but the event is long and they did say the stuff will be back in future events, the t2 armors at least so eh?

I don’t disagree with having to work to earn things, but I do think an anniversary event should be about fun and hopefully this one will be, won’t really know until I play it

100% this!

Hows that boot taste? We pay a monthly fee to play the damn game. No one is asking to be handed anything but the current system is trash

Its a celebratory event for 20 yrs but you have the min max the crap out of the event. Its a joke

they want you farming for the entirety of the event. just like with remix, except there was enough of a vocal minority that they decided to start nerfing remix very quickly. the best you can hope for is enough of people to complain in order to push Blizzard to do the same with this event.

You’re welcome to stop paying for it if it’s such trash.

How’s the boot taste when you don’t even like the boot? lol

From my own understanding the cost will lessen as you grind and you can quite easily get everything especially if you have the badges saved.

I have tens of thousands of badges waiting to be spent.
