Why don’t you do yourself a favour right now and just look at your reward system before the thing launches and just not do whatever stupid over-designed system you have planned to prolong engagement and just make the event fun.
Let people get the stuff they want.
Let people look back on an event and say “i’m glad to have been here for that” instead of “I had to bust my *** all day and i don’t even think this FOMO stuff was worth it at this point”.
Do yourself a favour. Just this once.

You don’t need everything, if you want every single item then you should have a big grind ahead of you. This game needs more meaningful choices, not less. Stop thinking you deserve to have everything handed to you.

This isn’t a meaningful choice. This is a “Blizzard will inevitably make a customer unfriendly event that requires more work to get what you want than it should” choice on their part.

I want to have an enjoyable event.
You know… Fun. The thing that Blizzard has a tendency to quash because they design systems for maximum engagement over time by prolonging rewards through RNG or inflated currency costs.
The event shouldn’t be someone’s sole focus if they want to get the rewards from it, especially if its a once-in-a-lifetime event for the game.
Players should be able to have ample opportunity ability to do other things and still get the majority of the rewards.

Because people that play this type of game don’t get pleasure out of things always being more brain dead. Pandering to that attitude is why they no longer have a dedicated base and instead have to constantly feed the needy children to maintain subs
They do tend to make things like this incredibly grindy. As an anniversary celebration it would be nice to not be friends by and tedious. I agree in that regard.

I’m sure that’s why DBM has over 500million downloads and Weak Auras has over 200million downloads.
Every time this game gets a little harder, the ‘hardcore’ playerbase develops mods to circumvent that difficulty and make it braindead.
So don’t sit there and lie to me.
But apparently wanting to enjoy an event and not grind endlessly for cosmetics is a bridge too far?

I just finished reading Wowheads review of all the different gold/money/etc. and I have to admit, it was disappointing.
Why so many different types of currency? I don’t understand what is behind this design decision. Why make it so confusing for people, generally, and darn near overwhelming if you’re a casual player who just wants to sit down and just play.
It is difficult to get excited when I feel like I have to read a guide before I can go just play and enjoy.
…and I hate all the different currencies.

And dollars to donuts, in the last two weeks they’ll make adjustments because they didn’t get the engagement they planned, and make the system less of a PITA.
They do this every time, which is why i wish they’d do themselves a favour just this once.
