When I played on EU, I spent years driving all my characters for that rocket. Over the years of trying to win this event and get that coveted mount, all my acquaintances who attempted it managed to do so, but not me. Luck didn’t smile upon me on EU.
Now, on US, the situation repeats itself. There’s already someone in the guild who got the rocket. I drive 11 characters and witnessed a monk getting the rocket.
It seems I’ll never get it. It’s frustrating that there’s such a long interval between the end and the beginning of the event. It’s one of the first mounts I learned about in the game and the last one I wanted but never got to ride.
I no longer care about it anymore. Drop rate still 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% and it will take 50000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 years to get it. It’s not really worth it anymore.
I’ve been put off with Bull Manure RNG in this game for so many things I no longer care. If the Developers are too lazy to put holiday items/mounts on a vendor to purchase with holiday items then i’m just not going to care that much spamming this dungeon for a inferior rocket anyway. The rocket doesn’t even have a passenger seat like the tour rocket.
When are the developers going to get it that slot machine RNG is not a fun way to acquire stuff?
RNG on Legendaries
RNG on Mounts
RNG on Pets
RNG on Transmogs.
RNG on Quest Items.
RNG on Gear.
I’m beginning to think this is World of CasinoCraft. No wonder this game is going down the toilet and servers are emptying out. Cause people are unsubbing from this insanity.
Are the developers gamblers? Do they spend all there time spinning slot machines? And think it is a fun way to get stuff?
I wasn’t even working for it and I got it on the first kill. In fact, I had not done the event until this year and thought to myself "cool, everyone must get a rocket now" - because I’m historically unlucky with random drops.
I got the rocket years ago. I didnt do the dungeon and usually ignored this holiday. Just happened to drop for me. Same thing this year. Was going to skip it but was bored waiting on M+, got the new drake saddle plus some heart toy on my first try.
They really need to look into the instance lockout for these events if they’re going to keep this drop rate the same. It’s pretty draining having to commit a good portion of your day due to the 10/hr limitation. Not to mention, if you actually had the energy to want to do something else in the game, you may not even have time if you have to go to bed for work or another commitment the next morning.
Thankfully I got the rocket after 508 runs this year. Not sure how I feel about needing to grind the drake armors, they really should either be for currency or gold at the vendor… I’m sure come dynamic flying people will be using other mounts anyways, why punish collectors into another long grind?
This is why FFXIV’s approach is 1000% better for everything. You get tokens if you do not get the drop. After enough tokens you can trade it in to vendor for the item. Mounts are 99(so 99 or 50 runs if boss drops 2 tokens), and gear is 4 or 8 clears to get the piece from vendor.
