20% Ice Lance buff coming in 8.3

Hard agree. No spec should require a specific random drop to make it work optimally.

While they are fixing it 8.3, it’s end of expansion for the trait fiasco they created. Can’t upgrade heat because it’s missing a trait, etc. they never learn from previous iterations of stupidity.

Actually as I read that I agree with you too. That’s why I chose frost for long term. When essences and bracers and azerite are gone (albeit probably a year from now) I don’t want to suddenly feel like I’m gimped.

need more!

Arcane Legion was so fun. They literally didn’t need to make any changes to the class. Just make it play like it did in Legion…

Classic did so well they want to emulate the 1 spec viability for most class’s lol

Won’t change much, frost mage current design is incredibly boring to play…been that way since WOD.

Fire and even arcane is way more enjoyable

I’m assuming this is preferential, as I’m having a blast playing as frost compared to the other 2 specs. And I came into this expansion as fire, trying to love it, but ultimately finding it boring.

I was hoping this buff would change before patch went live. Even with the buff, No-IL still sims higher than standard build and Orb build sims below both.

On the plus side, it seems No-IL build is now close to fire according to Altered Time so I think I’m gonna give up trying to be fire and go back to frost.

It’s a little sad that Blizzard has all this data (and more probably) but still refuses to acknowledge that Frost is both mechanically and output-wise in a pretty bad spot.
The orb build had a lot of potential and to play feels more like Frost from previous expansions - that is, it’s more dynamic/reactive and doesn’t rely on cooldowns as heavily.

Despite the “no major changes” coming in Slands, I’m still hopeful they’re going to somewhat tweak Frost and discourage the No-IL build. If not, Ashes of Creation has some potential.
