BGs, PvP in general doesn’t have a “easy way” option in gear
A gladiator with his elite set and 226 gear should have the advantage over lower geared players
I don’t have pvp gear, so if I ever enter a unrated BG and a 226 gladiator comes and destroys me because how their pvp sets are and the trinket bonuses, props to him cause he earns that advantage
I am certain that’s exactly how Blizzard wants them to see it too. And then they realize acheiving such is virtually impossible for them without purchasing a boost
You know what my ideal PvP gear progression would be? Sidegrades. Add some PvP-specific stats and let us mix and match them within our set, specialize ourselves further, maybe the stats could even do unique things to our abilities ala modern Legendaries.
You want to be a glass cannon that falls over the moment someone looks at you? Or maybe pick up some extra defense where your class is otherwise lacking? That should be what higher ranking gets you - more options, more ways to play; not just being plain better at everything.
Funnily enough, the scaling system was short-sighted and poorly considered in itself. That’s not a strike against scaling, though.
If they had done it right - let us customize our templates in some way, for example, I’m convinced they would have gone over a lot better than they did. The version of gear templates we got was basically the worst-case-scenario.
So imagine you’re a dragonslayer and theres only one dragon in the game and its a normal difficulty dragon
So the season starts and everyone kills the dragon, but only the top parsers on that dragon get loot thats above normal ilvl, and their loot is magically upgraded to mythic level.
By all logic this is fair- players who hit their buttons faster and who played classes that do better single target damage on bosses deserve to get gear upgrades
The following week everyone kills the normal dragon again. Again, only the top parsers get loot that can be upgraded while everyone else stays at normal ilvl. With every week, it becomes harder for the normal geared dragonslayer to outparse the mythic geared dps because unlike what ion says 1ilvl =/= 1% damage increase due to wonky multipliers against that normal dragon
So the normal dragonslayers are geared for their normal content, but they can never hope to get better gear unless they pay the mythic dragonslayers to dc and not parse that week, while the mythic dragonslayers have a forever advantage and guaranteed pink parses on the normal dragon
Ideally, parsing high on that dragon should have given the mythic dragonslayers more gear faster but kept that gear at heroic ilvl, while the normal dragonslayers can slowly work towards getting some heroic pieces regardless of not parsing pink
There was a time in BfA 8.3 that I was only in world quest gear, not even in 8.3 gear, every now and then at Boralus I would always see people getting geared up in nya’lotha.
So after stop doing wishful thinking I told my self “I’m going to push myself up there”
Found myself a guild that had raid times I could manage on weekends, started clearing mythic nya’lotha but never could finish it in time
So I did, by June last year I was 480 gear and I was proud that I did it
Why not just get better gear? It’s not very hard to get 220 gear and you won’t get completely wrecked by a 226 if you’re 220. RBG’s are fun and 1800 doesn’t take long to get.
