197 iLevel Cap Casual PVP

I think the game would be more casual friendly if a ilvl 226 player cannot delete casuals in UnRated Battlegrounds. Rated battlegrounds deserve their own balancing but unrated should lock all players to ilvl 197 for this patch and whatever the casual cap is for the next patch. I think it would go a far way to making the mode more accessible and fun for players who do not want to play rated.

Let them join and play but reduce the 226 ilvl player to 197 for that instance of the bg.

i would love to not have item levels in pvp like in Guild Wars 2, but most people and devs belive that if you put effort into getting good gear - you should stomp those who didn’t

No

They are all decked out in gear because they earned it

It’s supposed to make you, the 197 item level lose an advantage

Seeing the 226 gladiator should inspire you to be saying, “dang I should be like them”

That’s like saying you demanding to join a mythic raid in heroic dungeon/LFR gear bare minimum because “it’s not fair”

No, it will inspire us to say “If Blizzard isn’t going to design unrated pvp for unrated pvpers, then I’ll go do something more worthwhile, and not necessarily in this game.” Rather than deal with all the boosting and meta slavery of rated, we just want to have a good time in bgs, like we used to be able to do. Rated is an entirely different experience. We want to do unrated for a reason.

No, that would be like someone in unrated pvp gear demanding to skip straight to the 2100 bracket. This is more like people wanting to do LFR but half the mobs are Normal, Heroic, or Mythic strength. And then you come along and say “If you want to be able to avoid getting deleted in LFR, go earn your Mythic gear”. Which, of course, does not make sense.

Neither does demanding rated play to be on equal footing in UNrated.

Yeah and that was scaling

In BfA a decked out gladiator wasn’t able to hold their ground easily to a lower geared nplayer because the scaling. That caused problems

Well they got rid of that because it didn’t work and now everything is working as supposed to be, a higher geared player should always have the advantage

A fresh 60 or top of the ladder gladiator have the same opportunity to play unrated or not

You’re trying to tell Blizzard, “The gladiators are making BGs unfair!” When it’s not

So you are saying, go do rated content to enjoy casual content… Yeah NO, It should not be necessary.

No one is telling you have to be a top gladiator to enjoy unrated PvP

I’m telling you those gladiator players have every right to play unrated BG for fun, just as you do

You want gladiators/well geared pvp players not join your BGs because reasons

And if it concerns you alot that you get obliterated by a well geared player, then it should tell you to step up and do your best to get some gear

You’re aware of why casuals and less skilled players are having issues getting gear right now right?

I agree OP. As someone who has 227 ilvl i don’t do bgs anymore because its outright not fun for anyone involved. There should be one set of honor and one set of conquest that everyone can work towards throughout a season

I don’t particularly want scaling down or nulling of gear, but there shouldnt be 226 conquest versus 200 conquest. We should both have the same conquest

Two of those words you said in that sentence already answered your question

So then step up your game, its supposed to be tough at the start but it all feels rewarding at the end

You’re definitely out of touch with the reality of pvp right now

Your logic makes 0 sense. Gladiator players don’t need amazing gear for casual PvP. And if they do, maybe they’re not that good in the first place.

This is the part that consistently blows my mind. Not only do players with better PvP gear have that gear advantage, but they have to be better players to earn it in the first place.

Ergo, they’d still kick your butt even without it - but it wouldn’t be quite so much a wash as it is now.

PvP with a gear-system based on the PvE side of a game will just never be fun for everyone, though. This has been proven time and time again, and I’m convinced the only reason it sticks around is that people like dunking on defenseless, undergeared players.

So you’re saying you don’t want gladiators to join your unrated PvP because unfairness?

It’s their fault they are well geared?

Its blizzards fault for adding pve progression to pvp when it doesn’t need it. Gladiators should earn their conquest gear at a faster rate and casuals should be able to match that gear by the end of the season

At the start of the next season there is no gear disparity between the two. We’re about to have the biggest gear disparity in a season when next season starts

You are wrong.

What we should have is two sets for pvp: honor gear and conquest gear. And all forms of pvp content should reward honor and conquest. With rated pvp the fastest route to get conquest gear.

Item lvl in pvp should not be gated behind rating or at maximum the difference between ranked and unranked should not be more than 10 item lvl.

Why wouldn’t they join casual bgs?

That doesn’t happen otherwise everyone would be 226 and it would be not be special anymore

Stomping noobs is what passes for “skill” in WoW PvP.

These people don’t want any sort of challenge or parity.

Yes. Yes you should

However if the stomping is too hard it isn’t as fun, it is currently too hard

Agreed.

PVP gear templates need to return.

It will make PVP more accessible and reduce the boosting problem without splitting the PVP population
