it’s suppose to be a challenge. Similar to the Mage towers in legion. You’re not forced to do it. Save at least a couple hours of your time to complete it. Blizzard isn’t going to reduce the challenge just to suit your playstyle. it’s fine as is.
Yeah, I doubt I’ll have luck with the RNG mount. Since this is the guaranteed way to get a Maw mount, I’ll be taking a break until the final raid is released. “Yeah, I don’t feel like doing that” hit me hard this expansion.
To me, the difficulty is more mentally and physically preparing myself for a few hours to sitting through 18 floors of TC instead of dealing with how hard the content is itself.
There isn’t anything else in the game I can think of that demands you to sit for a couple of hours without interruption like TC. Not even raiding. Because at least you can just AFK by the boss or trash and your instance is saved.
Blizzard for a while has had a bad habit of creating annoying content and dangling a carrot at the end to justify it. And IMO, that’s a bad design practice.
Ooh, but the mage tower was so much better of a challenge, you had to actively dodge stuff, pay attention, have priority targets, know when to use your CCs and Interrupts… Most deaths in Torghast just happen because the boss can cast a Fireball that takes your whole health away in two shots and if you have no way to self-heals you just accept that you have hit a wall.
I could care less about the challenge. Having to commit a couple hours where I am unable to even take a break is something I don’t frankly experience in, well, any other video game I can think of. Just add something that is the equivalent of a pause button, perhaps when you reach a vendor floor, you can save that you reached that point and return later to continue.
Yes, it’s optional, thank goodness, cause after this Anduin quest, I don’t plan to return!
Mage Tower in Legion didn’t have you a looong time in a content and if you lost at certain point you didn’t have to wait a looong time to get to the point you lost.
Making something long and doozing is not a challenge either.
I guess even Horrific visions weren’t like that, though one had to farm a currency to get in, which made them worse than Torghast.
A way to stop and come back to a run in progress would be good. If Torghast is going to stick around for the whole xpac (and I hope it does) then this is almost a requirement.
I personally want to see even more challenging layers but that would mean slowing down so a stop/resume feature would allow that to happen.
It wasn’t quite so long in Beta, I could knock it out on various classes in 1.5 hours every time, in fact the 30 minutes for 6 floors was pretty universal for the longest time.
Blizz made Twisting easier in Beta, probably so they’d get good reviews before release, then re-tuned everything for Live.
I’m ok with a challenge but TC is more time sink than challenge in it’s current state.
it is 90 mins as demon hunter, we have pretty op trash clearing ability. Just infinitely growing aoe aura that doesn’t stop as long as you pull atleast every 10s, don’t even need to attack trash, it just dies
I could probably stomach it if there were save points.
and sure, make so when you lose all lives, all save points go.
But making it so you have to be stuck to you computer for several hours, and ensure any time AFK isn’t too long to log you out of the game - NO. Forget that.
Even games that have no death modes don’t force you to be playing it non-stop. This is just bad game design.
