Yeah I think this cost is really stupid. WE DON’T WANT MORE F’ING SLOT MACHINES. We want to be able to get the desirable trait combos that make some classes actually fun to play.
There are still super boring azerite traits, there are still bad azerite traits, there are azerite traits that work WAY better when used together than just randomly getting them.
We need this control, not freaking slot machine pulls. A 4-5 week grind for a targeted piece is MORE than enough of a grind.
The problem is even a mythic raider will take 6-8 weeks to buy a targetted piece. Tiers last like 6 months, that’s 4-5 pieces at best for A WHOLE TIER.
Each class has multiple specs to play, there are multiple setups you’ll want for different situations. There’s no reason for this to be so restrictive, or alternatively meant to focus you on gambling.
I didn’t miss that. I seriously doubt a huge chunk of the playerbase is going to immediately be doing +10s after the re-tuning though.
Players who were failing +10s in Season 1 are going to be failing +7s in Season 2 and probably only getting half that amount of dust.
My point still stands though that players should never be incentivized and rewarded for destroying gear that other players could use. There are other ways to give us the dust without making us literally take gear away from other players.
One of the horror stories trotted out with the master loot thing was guilds who would scrap items right in front of trials faces and in my experience that was just a ridiculous exaggeration but that sort of thing is exactly what we’re going to see more of next tier.
The real irony of this system at least to me is that it was designed to limit what raiders were capable of farming pre raid release. Only for raiders to use the new personal loot system to funnel every azerite armor piece to players with high azerite to hit the new raid with core positions in full mythic azerite gear.
Once again blizzard has made a system with almost no upsides but where everyone looses.
but you’ll have a ton of azerite to scrap from every boss dropping it in normal, heroic and mythic runs
you can only buy a few specific pieces a tier, yes, but how many should you need to buy? you don’t need all of the dungeon azerite pieces and im sure there is a raid piece that offers similar traits if your ideal piece eludes you
You’re paying residium for a specific slot and specific ilvl with a random combination of traits. There are more certainties than uncertainties in your purchase.
Agreed, and the fact that blizzard loves to nerf traits randomly, imagine finally after so many weeks of farming for 1 piece of azerite then blizzard nerfing the trait…
it should be at least 3k. The fact that theres 3 different specs, 4 for some. Great system.
I suppose that depends on what you consider “over”. I’ve seen people go 12 weeks before getting their last piece of Tier. Under this system a BIS azerite should take about 6 weeks (if your working it). If you had to get Azerite from this system exclusively it might be malformed. But it is supplemental to drops from other sources.
i just wish the crappy 325 azerite from WQs, that i cannnot sell, would give me 1 currency.
at least i wouldn’t feel like i’m getting ripped off, i used to vendor them for 30-50g now i have to scrap them for what… 2 pieces of cloth i have very little use for -_-
What are other sources for those who does M+ only? Darkshore World boss once a month that never drops anything? This system was added to help M+ players get theirs azerite armor. There’s no other sources for them…
while i think they are left out, anyone seriously pushing keys high enough that they need to buy the 415 specific pieces is probably at least clearing heroic mode raids for shots at trinkets
if you only only only do +11-15s , never stepping foot in a raid, the vendor is going to really suck
but im not sure many such players exist? you would be severely limiting yourself by not wanting to raid at least for trinkets, if your goal is pushing high keys.
But so you think someone who’s failing +10s this late into Uldir really deserves a targeted BiS mythic item?
Isn’t that a big problem with the game already? Too much easy to get high quality gear?
I mean, they already will easily get a 415 in all 3 azerite slots, just maybe not the perfect one. Seems even a bit too rewarding still for bumbling through low keys rather than doing high keys or mythic raiding.
World quest drops (not a great source i know), emissaries, raids of all tiers, PVP. If the system was limited to M+ players only perhaps it would be out of bounds. If a player chooses to participate only in M+ I can see where this would be more daunting.
But if it was less costly for the BIS pieces then…what after x number of weeks (x being how long it takes to farm BIS currency levels) weeks the only challenge would be pushing to higher levels to get…residuum you won’t use? or speed runs? And screw those low key plebs that didn’t get into the initial rush?
