15,000 gold to do the weekly mining knowledge quest?

“Null Pebble Excavation” Gather 10 Bismuth and 2 Null Stone, and deliver them to Tarib in Dornogal.

So, you lowered the amount of gathering knowledge you can get drastically for this expansion, whatever, I guess you have your reasons. But Null Stones go for 7.5K on my server. Why on earth would you do this? I even though “okay maybe the Imperfect Null Stone, those are about 2k, which is bad, but not insane like the other one” Nope, the actual full blown Null Stones.

Why are you gating knowledge so much for gathering this expansion? I can get points all over for my blacksmith crafting, but my mining I’m scraping away barely getting any… then you make it worse with this. Why?

Please pull this quest out of the rotation, or at the very least change it to the imperfect null stones OR regular null stones.

I can do this, painfully, but we have guildies that can’t even afford this.

The mining quest this week is way out of balance vs. all the other options in terms of the value/cost for what you need to turn in, by like a factor of 10 or 25.

It makes me think they meant two parts of the nullstone (where you need five of them to make a whole one or whatever), not two full ones.

Either that or they really thought those would be dropping a lot more frequently than they are currently.

I have two alts at max level with mining, and I’ll be skipping that quest this week on both. Either it’s two expensive to buy them or would take a long, long time to farm up 10 of those fragments. And do that twice? No thanks Blizzard, I’ll pass this week.

Gem Crafting had one that was a 15-20k gold opportunity cost as well.

Would imagine most profession have something similar the way mats are shaking out.

Why are they doing it?

Again.

Whoever made this new professions and knowledge farming is probably the same person that thought the maw or anything related to SL was great.

I mean, the profession system is what people wanted. Kind of. A lot of people, anyways.

5k for a prof kit to be able to craft everything easily devalued profs massively.

That’s nothing. You should check out Blacksmithing. You regulararily get Patron Orders that cost upwards of 50-60k, often with little or no mats provided.

Sounds awful. Not sure why people still tolerate the garbage after DF and how already dense it was.

I saw the costs for a “medium” weapon and called it off on the spot. I would rather keep using my 597 or 603 inestad.

In their search of making professions “relevant” they really made them worse on top of an expensive grind that mostly seems fueled by someone that is sitting playing the AH 18/7 or someone that has 0 issues to buy wow tokens constantly…

My other profession is blacksmithing on that toon, I get tons of profession knowledge from chests, patron orders, etc, by comparison to mining. The blacksmith 3 point quest is simply having a guildy send me 3 garbage orders for some really cheap items. I just don’t do the super high level patron ones, those are very expensive

A lot of professions are like this… Jewel crafting is the worst…

The crafting system overall is rather nice, I like being able to craft the BIS weapons and amor for friends.

It’s just these outliers that are really glaring.

(thankfully they redid Patron Orders so the Patrons are less stingy than most players now)

Clearly, this stuff wasn’t tested.

Can’t wait till we get to the part in society where cars are using real humans instead of crash-test dummies during safety tests.

Because it was the cheaper alternative.

I"ve sold more than 20 last week, I’m getting tons of them while mining now (full, not single ones).

I paid without even thinking.

Acuity is worth worth a lot.
Someone paid today 60k for 20 acuity on a recraft.

Me and many others spent the whole beta testing it - nothing wrong with it .

if you are serious about professions then the costs are a mear fraction of what you will make over the whole expansion . if your not serious and they arent part of your endgame then dont bother with teh quest this week - it wont set you back at all

I’m a LW so it hasn’t been too bad as what the other professions got.

It’s just kinda wild how much the patron orders can vary.

Just did three today, they were all easy ones, probably like 3k in materials max.

Compare that to a 20k - 60k work order lol, for about the same rewards.

Its very simple your first 55 points should be - 10 points into Plethora and 45 points into bismuth - you will have stones falling from teh sky for you

I feel profs devalued week first already. Unless you spend thousands of gold to end up on top of everyone else by crafting certain equipment slots.

My blacksmith went alloys but if I were to craft rank 3 I’d lose like 500-1000g per alloy because the prices are way less than what they cost in materials. Who is still making alloys when you’re literally losing gold by doing so?

And it’s the same for inscription with inks.

they see player numbers rising again, so they are making that $$$, so they are trying their same old tricks as in shadowlands of drip feeding players and gating everything as much as possible.

Yeah, it’s ridiculous.

I think what most are failing to realize is it is a WEEKLY.

Granted the requirements this week are much steeper than previous, it’s still a weekly.
You have all week to gather 10 imperfects or just sell a handful of 3 star bismuth and don’t give it a second thought.
