15 second death penalty is a pug killer

Troll? Probably.
The season has issues and needs further tuning.

What kind of tuning? It’s always going to be too hard for someone else.

I just want to go back to DF s2-4, I’m mad they went back to DF s1, my least favorite DF season.

Fully agreed. S2 was peak. Game hasn’t hit the same since

Jup, they went full shadowlands. I cancelled my sub yesterday and will be back in S2.

that is not a kiss/curse lol. What’s the kiss?

No affix if you don’t die. That is the kiss.

i’m assuming you’re being contrarian because sorry but that is the dumbest attempt at an argument. drunk driving is kiss/curse in your world because ‘no penalty if you don’t wreck, that is the kiss’. default bosses are kiss/curse because ‘you don’t have to redo the fight if you don’t wipe’.

I’ve timed a +7 with a full wipe and more than a half dozen deaths so this entire OP is hyperbolic and untrue.

There use to be 3 affixes, now there is two assuming you don’t die. The kiss is one less affix. Math is hard, I know.

there has literally always been a time penalty from dying lmao, it just wasn’t listed as an affix. please stop talking.

there’s actually no affixes at all now right? fortified/tyrannical? just do 15% more dps and healing and there’s no affix!

That is correct. How do you think people time keys far beyond their gear level? What happens once you can’t just brute force your way through with straight ilvl? You nailed it, you do 15%-20% more dps

Decent? I wouldn’t give them near that credit lmao.

I’m sorry but I think there’s two schools of thought here and I see what Blizz was trying to do with this by making it more challenging but the reality is the problems that stem from this sort of change.

  • DF S1 and S2 of DF had very stringent timers on most of the dungeons, what we saw was at the slightest notion of trouble, someone would leave the key and that would be it. What does this do? Well the DPS who had been applying for groups for close to an hour now have wasted their time especially if you’re halfway through the dungeon. Now they have to repeat that cycle again. Sure the Tank and Healer might get an instant invite, but if they don’t have a whole lot of time to play, they too just wasted their time. No one gets score, or gear, no one passes go and collects 200 dollars. Pugs become more toxic and people leave a lot easier. Players want to participate less in M+.
  • DF S3 Had more lenient timers and we saw that even if there was a wipe, people stuck around and kept going because they knew that we could still time. Even if we were gonna brick by a little, people by that point would stay for the loot. S3 saw such a high M+ participation and positive feedback while S1 and S2 had mostly negative feedback.
  • All this change does is make pugs more toxic and makes it so unless you have your group in voice, you’re screwed.
  • If Blizz is going to constantly try to make timers go down they should give some sort of kiss mechanic to add time back like a bonus. Why they’ve never thought of this I will never understand.

Come on Blizz, the season with the most positive feedback and participation was where people knew they had a chance to win and there was far less leaving and toxicity in pugs, they have now gone the opposite way.

Clearly, selective memory.

I don’t see any problem with leavers if you don’t state “weekly no leaver” beforehands. If the key is guaranteed to be bricked, then it’s a pain to continue.

The problem is that if the tank dies usually everyone dies. If you try to kite then you all just trickle die twice.

Similarly not uncommon for the healer dying twice in a boss and then you wipe and thats lust, or even worse, spears on NW.

Also see pretty much everyone saying its a skill issue hiding behind an alt, or dont even have ksm(maybe still hiding behind an alt)

Honestly the issue is mostly a PUG issue. Its not like this mechanic punishes DPS for being greedy - it punishes whole groups 5x the death when the tank gets auto’d through defensives due to wonky tuning.

This has been the worst week I’ve had. Multiple 8-10 GBs where someone just up and rage quits on the last boss, wasting 40-65 minutes.

Oblivion is STUPIDLY buggy. I had a Stonevault brick on Master Machinists because the orbs came in during Dorlita’s exploding block, and she didn’t want to move against the wall. She collected those like the seven Chaos Emeralds and deleted our tank and wiped us. Afterwards, the encounter was permanently putting everyone in combat when we entered the area, not even halfway across the boss bridge.

Players this week are worse on average for sure, but damn. This affix really feels like Quaking in S1 Dragonflight with the lack of foresight towards certain overlaps.

Dungeons that stink on Fortified:
Stonevault (the trash is just awful–esp. the ridiculous trash before the last boss)
Grim Batol (again, trash)
Dawnbreaker (everyone and their mother is a caster that wont move, so the only tanks who like this are DKs and DH’s …thanks!)
Seige - (overpowered trash, narrow corners, stupid gimmicky mobs like Spotters that run for our orbs like crackfiends or go pull packs for us)

Dungeons that stink on Tyrannical
Ara Kara (last boss takes way too long to kill)
City of Threads (The twins alone are an excercise in annoying me to death)
Necrotic Wake (One word:::Stitchflesh)

One dungeon that doesn’t stink no matter the “4” affix:
Mists - this dungeon is the “gimme” for the season

Dawnbreaker has 3-4 packs with 1-2 casters sp its pretty manageable
SV is okay if you take it slower, but the 3 packs before last boss do suck
GB, aside from the warlocks is laughably easy imo
Seige can be annoying without slows or CC to stop/grip back the giys that run. The spotters just like to headless chicken tho

Agreed with Arak. The melee downtime of 6-7 seconds, outside of ret pallies and DKs with bubble, is tough
COT twins can be annoying because the only lady doesnt move for anything after their laser show.
And yes, NW Stitchflesh needs to be tuned down a bit. One Abom is easily manageable however, but if you get two with one at like 25% health then its a ton of damage. More than Elsa from last expac
