15 renown for flying is ridiculous

It really makes no sense when the faster flying was available day one. At this point it’s just them being bitter that people hated they wanted flying removed in WoD.

Very true.

But dragon riding was a big part of the expansion. Right from the opening cinematic. The dragon riding racing and such. At my age I am too uncoordinated to do it, but dont have any feelings towards those that do. Except that I hope theyre having fun playing it.

Doesn’t matter that it’s a big part of it. Especially since we couldn’t use most of our dragons in the dragon expac. They could have had both versions available from the start. And still don’t need to add pathfinder to unlock it. It doesn’t make sense that we keep forgetting how to fly in Azeroth anyway.

Been here since patch 1.3. My highest renown is 13, for Valdrakken. I ain’t farming this crap rep to fly in my bird form THAT I EARNED IN BC!!!

I still think it’s mostly that Blizzard doesn’t want to deal with all the whining that old-school flying is too slow and needs a speed boost.

Which is absolutely coming.

That doesn’t work as the excuse for it being that way since WoD. And the whole point for wanting both is to be able to go slow sometimes.

Sure some people will do that, but most are probably trolling. And if they want to go faster, just summon a DR mount. Easy.

The difference between now and “it being that way since WoD” is that we had flying in Dragonflight from day 1.

Things aren’t “it being that way since WoD” anymore. And haven’t been for the past year, now.

But that likely isn’t the reason this time. It’s mostly they have gotten in a mode from WoD on. They likely don’t care as much what is posted here as regulars seem to care.

Sure they are the same. It’s Pathfinder, again. For static flying.

I never had a problem with pathfinder, except that pathfinder didn’t actually give you flying. It gave you an I.O.U. for flying a year later.

It’s just a horrible compromise. And doesn’t make sense on any sort of in universe reason. We keep forgetting how to fly. And the rep stuff doesn’t make sense because we can DR from the start, but can’t static fly unless they trust us enough. Ok Blizz.

It’s a substitute for the old gold cost.

And it’s fine. You get it naturally anyway if you just play the game.

It’s especially good for alts since it’s account wide and you don’t have to train flying per character.

Which also isn’t applicable anymore because they even got rid of that.

Some people get it naturally. If they do outdoor stuff. For it to be natural for all, instances would have to count towards renown.

But it really should be dropped. None of the excuses work. Even the we need you to see all the stuff on the ground we developed. Because DR goes too fast to see most of it anyway. They had that from the start. Just have DR/Stormriding/whatever they call it next and regular flying from the start. I promise, it won’t break the game.

Exactly i really don’t understand the issue. Im pretty casual and have 20+ renown with every faction required for the achievement (other than Dream wardens obviously)

Maybe they should just make old flying cost 370k per character, with an extra 75k to unlock it in each new expansion.

They got rid of it with pathfinder. It was the replacement.

We still had the gold cost for flying up through mists, with Wisdom of the Four Winds, which cost 2,500g.

Any ideas I had about buying Dragonflight are gone. The grind required just to be granted the permission to use my flying mounts (which I’ve spent nearly 2 decades collecting) is just too much. It doesn’t seem to be worth the effort.

So I guess I continue to sit this expansion out (the first time I’ve done this) and stick to classic WoW. I hope the next expansion focuses more on just plain fun and not just more convoluted systems that divide the player-base because I’d hate to sit that one out too.

Oh come on. You weren’t going to buy it anyway.

I don’t see anyone who works for Blizzard telling paying players with a straight face that Renown locking normal flying is fun or justified.

I just bought it 2 months ago. It was on sale.
