$15 a month for a 14 year old game?

Most of the sheeple that think this is a fair price are already subbed and enjoy the current, disastrous version that is retail. Classic is just icing on the cake for them. For the rest who were actively waiting for classic, not so much. Long story short they won't be adding many new, separate subcriptions for a reasonable price but retaining their base customers by giving them a freebie. Most of us who will never touch retail were even willing to pay up to half the sub price of retail for a shot at a museum piece, but yeah 180 a year does kill any and all motivation for that.

No i just want to play a version of classic that doesnt get deleted in 4 months and can afford it. i quit BFA very fast and have no problem with the 15 a month model.

Also, it's just a smart business move to make them together. makes classic minded players maybe try BFA, and makes BFA minded players maybe try classic. Good for both.

It's like paying for a cheeseburger and receiving one complementary, you don't have to eat it but it's a nice option.

Before Classic announcement:
Please Blizzard, we won't ask for anything; we just want Vanilla. I'd pay 20$ / month just to play Vanilla

After Classic announcement:
WE WANT THIS. WE DON'T WANT THIS. AINT PAYING FOR THIS. WHY WONT YOU LISTEN TO ME?!
The first group were the idiots who will still gladly pay $15/month.

Lol @ $15 a month is too high for Classic players. Get a job if you can’t afford it. Like I said, if you have so much discontent for retail players getting it “free” then make it 15+15. I don’t mind a sub for a game I’ve enjoyed for 10+ years going up a little. Prices for everything increase yet we still pay 15.
Lol @ people thinking it’s because we can’t afford $15/month. Yes, I have $15 to spare every month. But do I think it should cost me that much to play a static 14 year-old game? No
This thread is rife with hyperbole, strawman statements, and other sorts of viewpoints that are poisoned with a complete lack of desire to make sense.

I suspect that the initiative that started in the '70s to remove lead from our daily environment was not as successful as we'd have liked.
You're paying 15 bucks a month for current WoW, which gets updates all the time. Classic WoW is a nice bonus on top of that.

Yes I do think it should cost that much.
Free with Retail, you guys should be kissing the feet of Blizzard devs for even conceding Classic.

Of course there's a sub for an mmo game. Why wouldn't there be?

I'm happy to support the game's support team, developers, and infrastructure costs.

$15/month is an absolute bargain for the hours of enjoyment I will get out of playing it.

Guild wars 2 says hello.

Also again I ask, you're getting Classic for free.
Fah-reeeeeeee
I have to pay for it. Isn't only fair you pay for it as well?
Its not hard to make a menu people. 15.00 for retail. 15.00 for classic?
Or
A one time 15.00 for classic
Or
7.50 for classic
etc.
On and on. Paying for a game that I will not play is bull!@#$.
Period.

You're getting bfa for free whether you like it or not!
Keep up this attitude and we'll make you level to 60 in bfa before you can have access to classic.
Now go stand in the corner, hold this dictionary, and think about your life choices.

I would, but they're already adding stuff and taking stuff away. It's not classic for me. It is for others, but I think I can go without.

Affording $15/mo is a non-issue, but I just might consider it if it was free. Not going to happen, I understand, so I guess we're all in agreement as to what the next step for me is -- or rather isn't.

Guild Wars 2 Gem/Cash Shop says hello. You really thought Guild Wars 2 didn't get finances from somewhere to support themselves?

Classic will take resources to maintain. Companies don't do do things out of the goodness of their hearts.

Welcome to the real world kid.

...

K bye.

I bet you have given blizzard at least $2,500 for WoW alone.

$2,500 over 14 years

10 hours a week of wow for 14 years = 7280 hours

That's about 34 cents an hour.

Let's factor in Inflation to compare the cost of the sub from 14 years ago to today, 15 bucks is worth about 20 bucks today, so it actually cheaper than when the game came out.

Would a separate classic only sub for like $10 a month be a good idea, absolutely, but that is most likely something that will come with time.
Its still some time until the july release and bliz is just flirting ideas maybe they will come to their senses by then. For those of us old school wow players that know every nook and cranny (even GM island for those real old schoolers) they better show us why its still worth 15 a month when retail is not even worth that anymore. My prediction before its all said and done is they will offer a separate sub for classic for like 7.99 or something. That's still a bargain for them and us old timers would feel like we got something for all this fuss. Again its not even about the money its just the right thing to do for loyal classic fans. We deserve a separate sub at a honest rate. That is all carry on.

Why would you pay a smaller fee for Vanilla? Is this kid serious?

*Retail player getting classic at no additional cost whatsoever*

It's our money that went to its creation. We've already paid for it.

No point arguing with her.
Next stock market meeting:
WoW shows how many people they have welcomed back to the game by adding the populations/activities etc to the stats.
I have no idea why Blizzard have become visibly greedy, they are a business, they need profit.
So too does that lady with a red light in her front window.
One of these business options has a better reputation than the other, what business plan would sacrifice a reputation in exchange for said profits.
We deserve a separate sub at a honest rate. .

Why? For being Classic fans?

Nah.
Is this real?
If I was planning on playing for 5 years, that is $900.

let that sink into your head for a second...$900 to play a 14+ year old game for 5 years.

You could buy 60 games at $15 each for that amount of money, there is no way classic is worth that much.

[/quote]

Well in 5 years from TBC release, my main character had over 600 DAYS played. That is 14400 hours at 6.25 Cents per hour. No other game even comes close to how cheap this game is it play, and no other game hols my attention to anywhere near as long!

Also good luck finding a decent game for $15.

Go enjoy BFA.
All of these threads are confirming for me that a good chunk of the people that played on pservers only did it because they were too cheap to pay for a sub.
Wasn't Vanilla $15 a month? And BfA is still $15? That's like getting 2 games for the price of 1!!!
I played in Vanilla, and I've never touched a private server, and I think 15$/month is ridiculous.

I played BFA and got bored, and don't think I will resub for BFA.

I would like to play Classic, but won't pay 15$/month for it, but saying that, I never expected it to be free, that would make no sense. I'd be willing to buy the game or pay a reduced sub for it obviously, but I can't find any justification for myself to spend 15$/month for Classic.

That being said, if Blizzard were to offer it as an incentive for people who sub to BFA normally while having a separate lesser sub for Classic for people who just want that, I'd be perfectly okay with that.
