Thats really about it. If anyone is wondering.

Max 10s, everything maxed. RT max.
Buttery smooth everywhere.

K but do you have pretty lights and .gifs on your cooler?
Cuz that’s a lotta frames, right there.
No rgb. Though I will add some rgb fans and have them go from green to blue to red depending on cpu temp.
I will hang onto my 6700k until it cracks in two, Star Citizen comes out of alpha, or Elder Scrolls VI releases, whichever comes first.
You should consider adding RGB to your rig. I gained an extra 170 horsepower at the wheels when I installed underbody lighting.
I cant upgrade my CPU at this point without getting a new motherboard. So instead im just going to build a new PC and give this one to my son.
Dont foget your Gsync monitor. Thats been my favorite investment recently. 4k 160hz isnt super expensive anymore. Not worrying about vsync is well worth it. Game is smooth no matter whats going on.
I hear the X3D processors blow almost everything out of the water for WoW specifically. Been looking into one, but I’d have to change the mobo too.
Yeah you need a strong CPU for wow
Single core. You need a strong single core processor for WoW.
13700k here. but i didn’t recently upgrade for WoW.
what resolution yall play on?
I am sensing some sarcasm in these posts. Congrats on the upgrade, wow doesn’t require a ton, and in the future also look for computers that go on sale around holidays, you can save around $600 bucks or more.
i9 13th gen
4080 RTX
32gb DDR5
250w cooling, 9 fans
Hard drives are almost plug in play, get as much as you need, 1 TB is around $60
Pretty sure can get over 200 fps for wow
Doesn’t the 13900k require 300w cooling??? Did you undervolt it?
Jokes on you I’m still on a 7700k and 1070 and can still play wow easily.
I’ll upgrade when games stop working, but with current thread devs just keep making game work for my pc so no point to upgrade.
I’m in a similar boat, i have a 7700 paired with a GTX1080 and even though i can afford an upgrade and would really enjoy it, I’m pushing those feelings away and waiting for it to die of natural causes lol
Up until about 6 months ago I was perfectly happy with my old gen 4. Finally broken down and replaced it with an i7-12700K. Still slogging along with my GTX 1080 though, have yet to see a good reason to replace it. This is all on Linux of course, System76 Pop!_OS to be specific.
Exactly. The only thing my friends are doing that I can’t is all the new AI stuff you can load up on a 3090. I can wait for Skynet to become self aware first, then I’ll get the latest GPU.
I run everything max my pc is like 4 years old
Not at all, my pc never gets warm. That’s how it was, I did not build it. I’ll have to check, maybe it’s 300 W. But I know I have nine fans and it never gets above 49°
You don’t save much these days building pcs, with the cost of “current” graphics cards and components and paying tax on each item.
The only time you’re saving money, is if your buying last years or the year before’s graphics cards…ie 3000 series vs 4000 series.
And don’t even bring up Radion, if we’re talking about gaming, Nvidia owns them.
Ahhh it’s a prebuilt? Nothing wrong with that as long as you do your research. But yeah, I’m pretty sure the 13900k demands 300W+. Hope you’re enjoying the build.
Legit question since I don’t really understand what makes a CPU “good” for gaming- I’ve got an 8700k from ages ago when I made this computer and never got around to upgrading anything in it. How big of an upgrade would one of these 13600ks be?
I don’t really care if there is sarcasm or anything like that. The people thinking they get the same performance as I do on old processors. Sorry no. Sure it’s acceptable performance on lots of other processors but not even close I am sorry. I’m not saying the game as to be maxed at high fps. It looks good with way lower settings. For sure there are better processors also. I did look at the X3D and platforms etc and I decided on the 13600k over any X3D. I built this pc and the 10600 pc. The 4770k was a dell.
