1.2 Million viewers watching Lost Ark

Peers at the Picture very carefully

I’m sorry… WHAT?! Is WASD keybound to… skills/spells and not MOVEMENT?! This is BEYOND degenerate gameplay, it’s downright heretical!

Jesus will you stop quoting me? You’re an absolute clown. I never said it was going to destroy WoW. All I said was it’s an amazing game and it is. You’re so up blizzard butt you refuse to even play something else. You are such a miserable person. Just go away already.

Lol…I woke up early to make my char name reservations.

No coffee in me so I was going damn game is broke already. I can’t move!

Oh wait…click, not WASD lol. Been doing D3 on the switch so been using controller setups so that hasn’t enforced click to move either.

I had to go take a look at some gameplay footage and within two seconds, I see what you’re talking about. I thought this was an MMO-RRP, but it looks like an ARPG.

Oh well. I like D3, so I’ll wait and see until it’s free and then, if I can’t make a male Sorcerer, this game doesn’t get any thumbs up from me.

It’ll get two middle fingers instead.

It is ARPG but you can zoom in really. Can’t see crap for combat that way but unlike say D3, POE…you can zoom in to you char as you would for wow.

So as you hunt for the armors it will have the option to see that armour you worked for. Unlike d3 where yeah…you see your char “posed” only on selection screen.

D3 to me is like they could be a paper bag for armour. Not really seeing it, its there for stats lol. Lemons into lemonade…it saves money at Meriam (?) (the gypsy/veccin vendor). Why pay for t-mog…when you can’t fully see the armour anyway.

interesting

my post was hidden due to community flagging

then restored by moderators

why do people do things like this?

its just discourse

anyways, not a vote for or against the game

just curious about peoples thoughts on it

Am I crazy or is the founders pack basically a “P2W” bundle that also gives you a head start on other players?
I looked it up out of curiosity and boredom. You get gear, bonuses to in game activities and other stuff.
On top of that, the game seems to have a lot of other in-game purchases.

It seems like the true F2P experience is going to be quite lacking.

It was because you posted in the WoW GD, that forum is technically for the discussion of WoW related topics only. It got sent to the off-topic gaming forum.

Twitch  Views  Do  Not  Represent  Player  Numbers

I’ve only ever seen WoW die-hards try to make the argument that, “oh, so-and-so game doesn’t have very many viewers on Twitch and such-and-other isn’t even playing it anymore so it must not be as good or it must be dying.” Connect the obvious references, you know exactly what I’m referring to.

Do you not understand how Twitch analytics work?

Everyone watches games on Twitch because they’re watching the streamer they follow play a game they’re interested in. But the most popular streamer(s) in a particular category will have anywhere between 85% to 98% of the categories total viewers, sometimes split between the top four or five.

It’s highly unlikely those viewers are ever going to play the games they’re watching unless they’re really interested–which if you’re resolving to watching Twitch and not buying the game(s) yourself, you’re either careful with your spending or you’re more interested in living vicariously through someone playing the game.

XIV’s streamers are very niche in this regard. Certain streamers are already content producers on Youtube and they brought over their audience to watch them on Twitch. Others were already big streamers going through the main story quests for the first time so their audience, most of whom were likely already playing XIV, can watch how they react to everything. The fact of the matter, though, is that unless you’re going through the MSQ for the first time and reacting to everything, the game is boring to stream and even more boring for people to watch. Which is why most just tend to play the game, themselves, rather than watching someone else do it.

Twitch is not a good indicator of how many people play the game. Hell, not even Steam is a good indicator since most players just use the default XIV launcher downloaded directly from Square-Enix’s website.

Stop using it as the basis of your understanding about the game.

Lost ark is legit though.

People have been playing on the Russian servers for a long time in English.

Its got the coolest fast tranport ever. Whip out a guitar and jam.

Immersive? No. Fun? Yes.

cool stuff like this aside its taking getting used to but I am liking 3 gun option on gun slinger.

Its not POE or D3 bow/gun/crossbow ranged dps for sure.

Rifle, ranged.

Pistols and shotgun for some close range fun. each with own casts too.

I am liking its spin on this style of rdps character. Nice to see something new imo.

It wasn’t as much as the “honeymoon phase” ended , it’s that we got to end game.

New World’s bones are great, the foundation for a good game is there. And the leveling up process was quite rewarding and fun, but the end game… oh boy, the end game actually just kills any desire to log in. I played the hell out of that game while leveling, I quit after less than a week of being top level. The end game is just so bad, it’s not even half baked, there’s not enough there to even get to the baking stage, and the little bit that is there is super shallow, boring and repetitive.

Lost Ark on the other hand shouldn’t have these issues. This is a western port of one of the most popular games in Asia, an established game with lots of content over the years to flesh out the end game.

To be clear, I’m not trying to say Lost Ark is perfect and the most amazing game ever that will kill every other MMO lol. Hell I haven’t even tried it yet, I plan to, so I can’t even say if I like the game at all at this point. All I’m saying is that Lost Ark shouldn’t fail for the same reasons that New World did: being a brand new game that has no end game developed yet.

Still shilling that whole LULZ 900k stuff, huh Clark?

It’s okay for other games to do well, dude. It won’t hurt you.

thats all hes capable of unfortunately

I’m considering to give it a try, but have some questions. I’d appreciate if anybody could throw some opinions:

  • Is it permanently free to play or is just during the initial launch days?
  • Is it pay to win?
  • How is the solo player experience?

Alwasys f2p.

Its money maker will be crystal to speed up things. UNless a bleeding edge gamer not seeing the need there. If like me you don’t care if you are 500, 5000, or 500000 on the rankings if there…its all good. Same way I play d3. I don’t worry about rank. I worry about keeping my HC char alive jsut 1 more day lol.

Some pet abiltites that may ahve game play value are also needing store to turn them on. NOt seeing a need to spend money here. My pet’s crit booost given stock and free works fine at the moment. Again if not bleeding edge should be fine here

Solo player…is nice. its has dungeons. Dungeons in questing so far very soloable. Normal setting is what I use and roll through solo fine so far. Potions have small cd’s so self heal is there and works well.

I have been playing as kiting ranged classes. I have not taken my shadow hunter (melee) in here yet.
