Now, given that the rewards are identical to those in 1.12 AV, would it not be fair to say that after over 10 years of education with rushing/zerging/racing being the most efficient way to said rewards, that the same rushing/zerging/racing will be just as prevalent in 1.12?
Do you imagine that will be different in 1.12 AV?
As does losing in 1.12 AV. It gets you a mark of honor, the participation trophy.
WSG and AB are there for HKs. With diminishing returns, AV, especially long AVs, are not good for grinding HKs. Those rank grinding are not going to intentionally slow down AV zergs just to get HKs.
Again, 10+ years of history has made zerging AV an institution.
WITH ALL THAT SAID…
Would an early AV with more speed bumps, and more PVP as a result of needing to actually fight over the objectives on the way across the map, be a better atmosphere for compelling gameplay, compelling PVP?
Look, what we get AV-wise is what we are stuck with for the life of classic. For those that are just honor grinding for the loot, they want it over with and will toss it over their shoulder after it has served it’s purpose. Wouldn’t it be better to have the version with more longevity for those who simply like and enjoy the early BG and not just a means to an end?
Many of us view AV as a large part of our end game. The version with the least content is the least attractive version. Once everyone has their loot/rewards, what is of concern is what we are left with.
