I doubt it would carry over, no other renown/rep works like that to my knowledge.
That would unfortunately create an incentive to skip raid every other week since each full raid completion gets you two tiers worth of rep. Obviously people who want to gear up for higher and higher tier content will still raid every week but for casuals, this system design actually gives us a reason to wait. We can do the raid less frequently and still get the same renown. I dunno.
Think the gear tokens would make more sense if at least one of them was earlier, like the first one renown 8~10 and the second then being 18~20. With it scalling to myth cap the chances of you wasting one are near zero unless your farming CE in the first few weeks. And even those who are will likely have a spread sheet ready to make sure everyones getting the rare drops the most efficent way possible and this just pushes those lower priority players chance at bis gear foward.
For the other 95+% of players it would give a smoother progression path; as someone who just gets aotc a couple times ill likely be done raiding before seeing the first coin and everything on farm will make the upgrade feel mediocre.
Currently its feeling like its only good for late game catchup on alts or newer players (with the rep scalling based on how far behind you are) instead of a reward for actively playing the raid.
Other then that though i like the raid renown system just like i enjoyed old raid reps and the non-power bonus look nice or at least convenient, especially the crafting tables as i’m super tired of porting out mid raid to make flasks when they go on longer then expected.
Dinars both need to go out before the halfway point in the season.
I honestly don’t see anyone, casuals or otherwise, postponing a raid just to try to minmax the amount of renown they can get unless they’ve already progressed as far as they want (AoTC for example).
That aside, feeling like you can skip a week and not fall behind is a good thing.
For players who start late or have a lot of renown to catch up on, will there be something in game to let them know they’ll get extra renown until they’re caught up?
I could see a lot of more casual players not knowing about this mechanic and even if they’d be interested in doing the track to get the rewards they might think they’re too late to the party to meet their goals
I don’t understand the logic behind Renown 7/10/13/16/19 for the buff / nerf of the raide content.
So you are rewarding raiders able to progress the raid faster which obviously their renown levels will be higher than the rest.
Do you mean to say you will get rid of the nerf schedule like in S1 but will only rely on this renow system to nerf the content instead?
So if any new raiders will start to raid undermine 2 months later, they actually will face a much more difficult raid like someone did it 2 months ago?
The renown isn’t based on your ability to clear the raid, you get the same amount regardless of the difficulty. It’ just a more clear structure for the raid nerf buff we had in S1.
There’s a weekly increasing cap on the renown and catchup, those coming in later won’t be too far behind for long.
So we’re just back to old school blizzard these days? Post a thing, ask for feedback, gets lots of feedback.
Say nothing and change nothing?
Nice.
Some of these unlocks are far too slow. My guild is not by any means sweaty. 4 hours a week total raid time. As long as we have enough Tanks, Healers and range/melee dps we don’t care about comp. Often we have friends of guild members join random fights. We don’t loot council anything. Food buffs are provided and we don’t worry about potions or flasks.
Our only requirement is DPS be above the tanks. We only sit people for performance if they are struggling on a boss AND we spent more than a week or two stuck on the same boss… VERY rare.
With all that being said we got AOTC on our 8th reset. Using the Renown track as described we would be looking at the raid skip around the same time we have fully cleared Heroic. Usually we only clear heroic as a guild 2 or 3 times for anyone that missed aotc. After that the raid is dead.
That means for a rather casual guild we would be done with the raid before making it half way through the renown track. Raiderio says there are around 8000 guilds in the world that progressed at similar speed to ourselves. Thats a lot of people basically done with the raid before even the skip is unlocked.
By the time people reach dinars it would be at least 13000 guilds have aotc.
Maybe reduce the full unlocks down to 12 to 14 weeks? Could also keep this pacing until HoF is finished and then bump it 3 or 4 times as much renown per week… maybe a mix of both options.
I just don’t see this raid being fun enough for people to play that much for that long. It almost looks like this is designed to FOMO people into coming back at the end of the tier to grind out all the renown over a couple weeks.
Hey folks, wanted to make a quick update concerning how the Raid Renown has changed per your feedback & some internal conversations:
-
In hopes of not burying the lede, the Puzzling Cartel Chip previously present at Ranks 17 & 19 on the track that allowed for purchase of Raid Items directly have been removed. However, it’s noteworthy that this feature isn’t intended to be gone from the Undermined Update entirely, just that they’re moving away from the 11.1 Raid Renown track. More details to come, so hang tight and we’ll have more to say on what’s becoming of them soon!
-
‘Fixer-Upper’ Repair Stations previously present at Rank 5 have been removed. While this is the sort of thing that could end up being perfectly reasonable for certain raid layouts, much of Liberation of Undermine is already outdoors and mountable - not to mention the Rewards Card allowing you quick access to the Incontinental even when no engineers or repair mounts are available. Overall it just didn’t feel that satisfying, so they’re removed for now.
-
Raid Skip has been moved to Rank 5 (was Rank 8), now requires Mug’Zee to have been defeated on that difficulty (was any difficulty). We’ve heard a lot of feedback in both directions here - that 7 weeks would be too long for certain guilds that normally clear higher difficulties quicker, and the possible risks it could pose to late-stage Mythic Progression. As a result, we’re simply pushing this up sooner and making it a more traditional style of Raid Skip unlock/quest that you’re used to, with the tradeoff being you’re only required to kill Mug’Zee once per difficulty rather than multiple times. This is the sort of thing we could see evolving into something more robust one day, but for Raid Renown’s debut it feels safer and more appropriate to make it as close to the live raiding experience as possible rather than risk too much disruption at once.
-
Lastly, taking the Rank 8 and Rank 17 spots as a result of some of the previous rewards shuffling are two new mounts - the Thunderdrum Misfire & the Darkfuse Chompactor. A reminder that this Renown will still be available with all of its rewards redeemable even after 11.1 is over, so non-raiders and collectors won’t have to lose out on the chance to collect cosmetics found within it just because they didn’t raid during the season.
Thanks for all of the feedback and discussion over the last few weeks, and we’ll see you in the Undermine!
The largest and main point of feedback on the dinars was that they were way too late in the tier/track. Hopefully your new plans involve introducing them much sooner than 4-4.5 months into the tier.
AKA you’re going to make them more difficult to obtain, but “it’ll be worth it”, right?
Lets hope dinars do come back and stay permanently as a system. Theyre the best thing you guys have put out with regards to raiding, and also with the introduction of “super omega ultra rare” loot… cuz you know theres a very low chance of you getting that item in a raid of 20+ people that also need it.
picking and choosing what to respond to is crazy. one word. priests.
Please have the Dinars be relatively easy to get and are unlocked account wide for alts.
I don’t see why we can’t get dinars on the algari token of merit vendor as well for 18-24 tokens. After 3-4 weeks of getting literally nothing from the vault that would be completely fair.
Appreciate the update but the largest issue about it was the acquisition time. Everyone can queue up LFR and farm rep to get a literal endgame mythic itemlevel BIS raid item regardless of playstyle
I have a sneaking suspicion they’re gonna be timegated even worse and tied to some achievement.
