11.1 Raid Renown Feature Preview and Context

  • Catchup specifics are TBD but will function very similarly to how Nerub’ar Finery did - this is to say there’ll be a sliding scale where players further behind will gain more reputation on kills, ensuring that they should rapidly approach parity with the global norm, likely in the span of a few weeks.

Not so sure this will go down well. If you join halfway through a season, and you are in a mythic guild, you are going to feel obligated to run a bunch of LFRs and tear your hair out to catch up over a few weeks. This isn’t as good as just increasing boss dmg for anyone who enters a raid, by say a certain date of the season’s life. This will feel bad for some players.

Look man, I just want to play the game and not sit in weekly raid lockout timeout, or wait for my weekly login lootbox for gear.

I just want to reclear raids and dungeons for loot at my own pace, and have all my upgrades come from chesting/looting as I go itself.

If my upgrades come from a weekly lootbox vault or timegate craft spark or some renown track instead of the content itself, it’s not progression. Give me my agency over my own progression and respect my effort, I have ZERO interest in playing the “Timegate as progress” game that’s wholly independent of effort. It absolutely ruins the content for progression to feel like I’m not the one in control or that I’m put in loot timeout, or that there’s the concept of “burned lockouts” that has ruined raiding as a whole.

The dinar system is still not what I want. It is better than what it was for S1 as it provides deterministic loot rather than being trolled by a systems designer wholly with the teeheheheh timegate RNG stuff, but it still does not respect effort and puts you into weekly loot timeout.

Dinars arnt going to matter when half the classes in the game arnt good enough to br brought over the meta. Why dont priests ever get a feedback thread.

They’re too busy reworking hunter and buffing ret paladins

The “Puzzling Cartel Chips” should be available MUCH sooner. Hopefully y’all agree.

Maybe i am reading it too much/different way, but i think the removal intent is to introduce it back accounting progression rate of individual guilds? while the system we have for renown meant regardless of how fast or slow you prog you would only get it at week 14.

Like, one of the complaints people gave was that Week 14 was too slow for many guilds because by then their progression was over so maybe they want to put it from a mechanism who can be adjusted based on the guild progression?
