11.0.5 Elemental Rework is still disappointing

He’s literally wrong. LB spam is gone even with the 2-second CDR on Stomkeeper since the Lighting Elemental Spawn from SK is so strong that it’s a competitive pick. Let alone your spenders are going to out weigh getting more Stormkeeper usages because of Ascendance and DRE reworks. Espcecially, since SoP will only give 1 overload vs 2 overloads for Lighting Bolt and Tempest, Stormkeeper is less powerful for single target. It will prob be the talent choice for M+ but you’re not going to be mindlessly spending CL since you need to spend, especially if Echos pulls ahead.

Which is good. Anybody who is fan of these stupid “fire only” or “lighting only” builds are morons. Those builds hinged on putting all eggs into a single basket, which gave us these terrible damage profiles and lead paint-influenced button rotations with no ability to adapt.

If you’re hyper-fixated on spending Lava Burst with these new builds, you’re playing it wrong btw. Lighting Bolt still serves as your filler and Lava Burst does not dominate your CPM.

The fire damage isn’t the issue; it’s the pets themselves. Grandpas only casting the default version of Chain Lighting and not inheriting the spell interactions from the spec tree are more significant issues.

Because Blizzard wants to force us to pick Ascendance even if we hate its visuals

the new ele is going to be less fun , more CD dependant , and more annoying (check auras for tempest or lose dps) , and will drop to bottom of the meters im afraid…

oh forget about M+ now that defensives have looooooooong CDs GL

From PvP perspective it was otherwise. We wanted old Ascendance instead of Stormkeeper but now we are forced.

My preferred playstyle is weaving Master of the Elements and Surge of Power. Hopefully this becomes viable–if not–I’ll be considering Enhance or falling back to Resto. Would love to see a shaman tank that also combines elements of earthen or frost armor, firey retribution, wind/sandstorm elusion, and such. A tank with lust, Wind Shear, and all our utility sounds fun

Wait is Totem of Wrath being changed over to pve? And it is cast with primordial wave?

I despise the necessity of WeakAuras for optimal play, I’m not sure about the CD dependent part though. Is Ascendance the CD really going to be a lions share of our damage? Sure ascendance procs will influence our damage but that’s been the case for several patches over the last few expansions.

From what I have seen these changes are potentially an increase in DPS and a lot more dynamic gameplay, not as brain dead as spamming Lightning Bolt but also not as strict as Ele DF season 2 rigid rotation.

Sadly they are nerfing Surge of Power to only cause one overload instead of two. I remain skeptical that Surge of Power will beat out Aftershock, especially since Mountains Will Fall will be returning to our builds.

Current testing is indicating Stormbringer is going to become meta for Elemental. This is not a guarantee though so don’t quote me on this.

Most likely since Blizzard is also hitting us with a flat 8% damage nerf, likely to offset overall power increase. (Lava Burst though is getting a 32% damage buff)

I’m going to test few builds I came up with. I created 2 for Farseer and 1 for Stormbringer. Aftershock for Farseer 100% and SoP for Stormbringer. We will see but overall I’m sceptic with the changes. They don’t look too good.

My biggest concern is rot damage nerf from Flame Shock due to less uptime on Fire Ele and removal of Skybreaker’s. I played with Affli in 3s so it complimented his damage profile very well. This comp might be completely dead after reset.

the nerf is because they are shifting our damage.

nerfed everything a flat amount, then buffed LvB and spenders.

Initial impressions
Erupting Lava is bad especially as Farseer
Icefury procs all the time now
Miss Elemental uptime–duration reduced and CDR reduced
No CDR on Prim Wave makes 24 sec LMT little awkward
Charged Conduit will let you get multiple targets with debuff.

It’s crap. Look, I get it, we may get more damage due to the changes, but it feels very, very sluggish. Pre-patch it felt like a 100mph an hour class…now, it feels like I’m going at 20 mph.

Rogue here I come because this class now is for old, old, old people. 80 year olds who need to press a key every 10 seconds.

Fun fact is that a lot of issues were fixed. Ancestors don’t consume Flame Shock like they did on PTR.

Damage feels bigger than it was.

Ele is literally blasting in Keys and the cleave fights in raid, doing much stronger on Single Target in raid, and the game play (IMO) has much more depth. IDK anything about PvP but for PvE rework is pretty neat…prob gonna get the nerf bat tho…
