I’m back and forth on it at this point. I don’t think I’d be surprised either way. If it is fake, then it’ll officially raise the bar for what qualifies as an effort post.

Not saying it’s real. It’s silly to assume any leak is real, given that there are some really talented fakers out there, but reused assets isn’t proof of something being fake, because Blizzard ALWAYS reuses assets, and even puts them up front and center in promo material.

Pretty much where I’m at myself. Like, I get the arguments for it being fake, but as I’ve already said: I’ve been around for more than enough of these to really have a feel for what is and isn’t fake now. We ALWAYS seem to have a fair amount of the playerbase swearing up and down that a leak “has to be fake” in the final days before announcement. Every expansion since Cataclysm has gone through this to various degrees. My personal favorites have been when expansion names have been discovered via trademark office filings that specifically point towards a video game, yet you’ll have people look at it and go “That’s a stupid name! Maybe they filed it for a book?”
Speaking of which, I don’t suppose anyone has happened to find anything like that, have they?

I was one of those people with GW2’s latest expansion. “Secrets of the Obscure? That sounds too dumb.” A week later they made the announcement.
I’m just giving myself plausible deniability before I put my foot in my mouth again.
Honestly yeah, subterranean/underwater zones do not tend to go over well.

We know it won’t take place in Avaloren because the primal/rock triceratops all exist underground in Eonarus

Most definitely real imo.
- Mid overall vibe, generic fantasy settings.
- Reused assets with slight alterations to make them seem new.
- Another random landmass; fits their formulaic content cadence.
- Matches breadcrumb lore we’ve received throughout DF.
- Similar leak timeframe like with Bolvar leak and DF leaks.
It is what it is but it’s most likely real. Nothing like Metzen getting on stage and talking about how “hype” it’ll be to level to 80, explore regurgitated landmass #1000, WAIT, I mean, “The mysteeeeeerious lands of Avalorn where you will discover ancient secrets tied to the dwarves underground and face off against an ancient evil deep beneath the earth!” Sorry, forgot to use my Blizzcon preorder hype speak. Buckle up boys! DF “fantasy” vibes 2.0!

If this “leak” is real then it’s already one of the most disastrous leaks since the GTA VI one a while back. If people are still wondering why leaks are seen as being so bad, this one would prove that point if true since about 99% of all the reactions I’ve seen regarding the possible legitimacy of these images have been negative.

That’s because everyone and their classic playing grandma wants a world reset but for it to somehow miraculously not suck like cataclysm. All while they say they love playing classic wrath when a boat load of them jumped ship when ulduar came out because it was too hard.

My gut says fake. Especially because we live in a world where people are pretty good at both photoshop and using an AI to generate imagery.
Everything in those images is something i feel like i’ve seen somewhere else before. Which is what generative AI does. If it were real it wouldn’t really surprise me either, unfortunately.
To be fair. The shadowlands leaks were, in fact, proven false. There was a fake version of shadowlands being posted everywhere days before the real one was announced.
And i remember everyone thinking Dragonflight was a hearthstone expansion.
Only if they do it right like blending the best of both worlds.
Classic plus better not have the thrash classic talent trees for example.
