110-120 how to bet better gear?

Ok I just recently got back into the game and between the EXP boost and heirlooms I’m leveling fast - in fact I barely got into Legion before I got back out… and this poses a problem for a returning player - I am getting my a** handed to me because my iLvl at 110 is like 209- a mix of heirlooms (216) and like 150ish stuff… how do I get this stuff up so I can level? Literally I am dying 5-6 times per quest at times. Maybe I’m forgetting something, just having come back?

I’m kind of surprised how weak 4/4 heirlooms feel all of a sudden

You could try getting a group for the dungeons, that would be your best bet at ok gear whilst levelling. Outside of that you are really limited to quest rewards.

Are you using chest/helm/should heirlooms currently? There is an issue with heirlooms that replace azerite gear simply not providing the sheer raw primary stats of actual azerite gear, whilst also not providing the azerite bonuses.

Yes I’m using the 4 EXP heirlooms thinking that would make sense - faster to level, but they are like 216, where the azurite gear looks like - 280 to start? I guess just bail on the heirlooms and use the azurite? Its frustrating. I think if I went to a dungeon they’re gonna kick me for being so low hahaha

Yeah, probably ditch the 3 pieces that replace azerite. They are chronically under itemised when it comes to stats. They have like half the stamina or something.

Looms scale badly, you’d be better off using Azerite gear and switching out to hand in quests if you want to deal with that hassle.

Frankly I went with Az gear, killing mobs was much faster negating the XP boost from the looms anyway.

Just search the forums for ‘Heirlooms Azerite’ if you care to see the discussion about it but long story short: Azerite gear has more stam + survival traits on it so you are more durable if you aren’t wearing heirlooms. The suggestion people usually give is “wear azerite to quest and swap to heirlooms to turn quests in”.

Besides that my other suggestion if you aren’t a story person or looking for rep is to make a starter account (it’s free) and invite yourself to a group with a level 1 on that account and then enable party sync and you can quest anywhere in Azeroth and everything scales to your level but you play as if you were 60 so no 75+ talents or any abilities after 60. You will also occasionally get party sync caches that have level appropriate gear in them.

Yep. Just swap back to Heirlooms when turning in quests.

If you have any item with a gem socket, put in Insightful Rubellite that gives you +5% XP bonus and equip it whenever you’re swapping back to the heirloom set when turning in quests as well.

the last heirloom upgrades are not great i remember noticing that too.
died like 10 times on some basic quest in nazmir.

start switching heirlooms for the big azerite peices itll help go over the bump even if you lose some xp% ; big stamina and main stat boost
