10.1 is the best gearing system i've ever played in WoW

I really hope you dont change this system unless to improve it but I have to say this is the best experience I’ve had gearing up in WoW. Bravo.

Only dislike is the fact that normal or heroic gear, I wont care to go past 437. I don’t do 16 M+ or Mythic raids. So it kind of makes “Heroic” gear feel unrewarding since I can just get same ilvl of gear just smashing normal and farming +11’s.

Thats the beauty of it. you dont have to. It’ll take longer to max out but eventually you will, and if you change your mind you can just hop into heroic or 16s and realize its fine. I absolutely love it.

I mean, I am going to clear Heroic for AOTC

But I will have 0 desire to go back in once I have AOTC. 0 reason to “farm” it when I can just do other stuff.

I love how Raidbots has added the upgrade system into Top Gear so you can increase the upgrade level by 1 all the way up to max for each item you can upgrade so you can work out the best of the many ways to spend your crests to make your upgrades as efficient as possible.

I’m trying to find those stats where did you get that info from on simulator

Counter point, heroic raiding gear feels the best it ever has for me. Going to 441 makes being stuck with the heroic version of a BiS trinket or tier piece not feel awful down the road. It makes heroic worth farming still for quite a while. I think the changes they did with raid gear are great.

I will say however, the way they handled upgrades via crests, if you want to upgrade normal raid gear you’ve basically gotta commit to it. It takes too many Wyrm crests that you still need to upgrade heroic gear.

To each their own, but I can’t help but feel like “I dont feel the need to do content that isn’t enjoyable to me because of the gear rewards” is a positive rather than a negative.

Personally, I’ll at least be killing Sarkareth until he gives me that mount transformation.

i like it too and my only critique thus far in pve is that i upgrade a piece and then inevitably end up getting an upgrade for it right after.

oh well

I also like it, except for the monotony of similarly specced gear with a limited pool of effects and secondary stats. But that ship sailed years ago, so I guess I’m all positive.

I 100% agree as a longtime player, and it is especially the best out of “modern wow” (the last few expacs)

Why? Because there is actually a REASON to go do things in the outdoor world now… I can mess around, do WQs, get rep, do even LFR, and because the gear system uses the same currency across content, I am always progressing in some way

It’s great. No more sitting in Valdrakken just queueing for PUGs like 10.0. Sometimes I don’t feel like doing instanced content and would rather just chill and mess around outdoors… this gear system actually incentivizes that.

Great job Bliz.

I mean on the flipside if you begrudgingly upgrade a garbo neck and then get a better statted one down the line you can upgrade that one for “free”. This is especially true for Trinkets which have much more varying usefulness.

Where do I enable this view? Cant find it.

Maybe I need available crests for those options to show?

Things I don’t like about the gearing system

  1. if I get a piece from sub 17, I can’t upgrade it to max. I have to get that drop from 17 or higher. It makes me uninclined to do any dungeon below 17. Friends know I am looking for BH keys, one says “hey I have BH 16” … nope, sorry, I want 17 or higher. Whereas if the gear could upgrade to max with crests/stones, I’d be more inclined to do lower keys.

  2. the amount of bagspace lost to the crests/stones which should be currencies is obnoxious.

  3. it’s just unintuitive and a bit confusing. I have a better understanding of it now, but it was not easy to wrap my brain around at the start.

if trinkets ever dropped. Not an argument!

I agree with this. They need to add a way to upgrade paths in some way. Considering we’ll be stacking crests for a while, we’re gonna need a reason to use them later on instead of just vendoring.

The only thing I hate about this system is that the crests and fragments are more bag clutter in an expac that is already overflowing with bag clutter and the fact that the flightstones are capped at 2000 when they shouldn’t have to be capped at all

They should both just be uncapped currencies, and crests should just be condensed to 1 MAYBE 2 “crest” currencies with one being world drop/quest/rare/etc. sourced, and the other being Raid/M+ sourced with higher difficulties simply dropping larger amounts of currency and higher ilvl items requiring more of the currency per upgrade.

Why is it so hard for Blizz to not make things unnecessarily clunky and convoluted?

This system is absolutely wonderful. I love it.

Now… they just need to double the flightstones that drop from dungeons/raid, and I’ll be one happy person! Cause lord, flightstones are the hardest item to grind… who’d have thought it…

I think it’s acceptable. They’re going to fix the bag space/currency issue, which I appreciate.

No changes? No I think it could be better. I enjoyed the dinar thing from S4. I think most players would appreciate a little bad luck protection by getting the ability to acquire those couple elusive pieces of gear that just won’t drop.

Also, I actually enjoyed being able to play lower keys with less skilled friends and still gain valor to level up my items. That was taken away from us. I don’t like that, but I can I’m still subbed so I guess I’ll live with it.
