I just told my brother last night, that the hunter set wasnt bad considering how garbage all the other hunter sets are.
All of the sets look like plate.
Personally I don’t care that y’all got a cool set. Might actually make me suffer through leveling a clothie lol it’s a unique set for priests that looks dope.
However, my problem is they clearly put -zero- effort into the Paladin set. It’s clearly an afterthought. There’s nothing unique about it, the colors are absolute dogwater. They just took the lfr Nighthold Pally set, and made it even more boring. Like straight up I wouldn’t even use that set for spare parts.
Once again, happy for the priests, the people saying they need to switch are just being dumb, but the Pally set needs to be addressed. No idea how they looked at that and thought “We did good work”.
I have zero respect for paladins, so I feel no remorse. Sorry dude <3
The big problem is that these cloth sets look more and more like plate armor. This idea mischaracterizes the classes and makes true plate armor look more and more like power ranger megazords, in an unsuccessful attempt to make them recognizable as plate armor.
Have you seen the outdoor sets for patch 10.1? The plate’s shoulders are huge, there’s already a picture of it being used by an orc on twitter and it just looked ridiculous.
This paladin set is a mistake in many ways, first it has a color palette that doesn’t match any paladin set in the game.
It also has a clear problem of having an inspiration that has nothing to do with warcraft paladins, it looks like something out of a warhammer game or even a Starcraft space marine.
This inspiration of making armor bigger and therefore more epic is totally wrong, the problem is not that the priest’s set has a color palette that reminds tier 2. The problem is that the bar of 3D items are so high that clearly users of plate armor ends up wanting something less over the top, because our sets are looking like the armor that Iron Man used to fight Hulk in Age of Ultron.
This is increasingly present in paladins’ armor, and it’s a stupid way of making our sets different from those of priests, because while our sets are getting bigger and priests’ sets are getting more and more metallic parts, we end up wanting their set instead of ours. For the simple reason that they don’t look like one of the transformers robots.
Lastly, this is not to say that I want the priest set or that I want them to be swapped. I recognize that I got carried away in this sense, in previous posts. What is fact in this discussion is that the priest set has elements that are reminiscent of Warcraft lore quite visible in its composition.
While the paladin set is totally generic, it has no traits that distinguish it from any armor you would see in different MMO games or even a set that was a quest reward.
Oooooooh yeah! Paladins got completely screwed over compared to the Priest! Kinda hilarious cause the Pally tier got put right next to the Priest one! Yeah it makes me laugh but I think Paladin would have a way cooler back piece if it was put together like the Priest’s! Geez man… It hurt to see that.
That’s cool, because neither does Judgment. Unless you want to say that’s the only set that has ever had a masked hood or something, which would be blatantly wrong.
Iconic kilt therein lies the problem… That’s not a good look
The covetous Paladins are really grasping at straws out of desperation.
I think and I will say: blizz is listening to the wow community or he just doesn’t care
So basically you want the better looking tier even though it’s objectively more befitting a paladin. Got it.
The irony of you posting this on a character that’s mogged into those massive lion-head plate shoulders from BfA is not lost on me. I mean hell…replace the leg model your character is wearing with robes (while keeping the thigh plates) and the sillhouette is nearly identical to this paladin set:
There’s nothing trend-setting about either the paladin or priest sets as they’ve been shown. Being upset that you like the other class’s set more than you like your own is not an indictment of the design philosophy behind either of them…regardless of how many paragraphs you spend trying to claim otherwise.
Speaking of BfA sets…see anything familiar?
But I’m sure all the crocodile tears are right: it’s totally unprecedented for priests/cloth wearers to look like this.
Oh, idk, level 59 Classic character, who seems to enjoy making slap dash comments, meant to incite. Let’s think rreeaaallllll hard now.
Due to it being very dependent upon that, all paladin specializations walk on a piano wire like right rope. To where you’re able to successfully walk on the wire if blizzard doesn’t mess with our tubing too much, yet when they start nerfing. It seriously messes with our capabilities and rotations given how we work.
Like for instance back in shadowlands the ashen hallow need literally altered the play style by outright killing the viability of ashen hallow. To where necrolord took over and meant you had to alter how you approached things.
Any sort of changes knocks us off that piano wire, and it takes tons of effort to get back on it, which is true for all three specs.
Good. It’s about time Priests get a set that has some proper pants with their set. It’s not fun getting presented a new sorry excuse for a robe aka tube dress every tier.
and shaman!
It takes a certain detachment from reality to think any part of the community can convince Blizzard to pull a 180 and swap two classes’ tier sets just because one wants what the other got, but then again, people thought they could do the same with allied races and also got burnt in the end.
Just by looking at the two, I can see that the priest set is clearly supposed to be light armor, hence you can see more of the wearer’s midsection and the hood resembles a nun’s habit, as someone has pointed out before. The paladin set, meanwhile, has thicker 3D elements that look more like something a frontline defender would wear and more like something that can take a direct hit from a sword. Not sure how you can say one fits the other better just because the priest set vaguely resembles a paladin set from almost 20 years ago.
Plus, the priest set’s purple tint fits Shadow priests perfectly and priests really need more sets to reflect that half of their theme because most of their sets are Light-themed or don’t really fit the class at all (cough Mercurial Regalia cough). The only recent priest-specific sets with that much purple are the Mage Tower and unranked Crimson Gladiator sets, and before them, you probably used the normal Absolution/Blind Absolution tint.
Priests gonna flex the new tier. Haters gonna hate.
“Look at me…. I’m the Paladin now”
You don’t speak for the community.
The Priest community is keeping their set. Don’t let it? Go ook yourself.
We have a Priest (Anduin) wearing full armor.
It’s not bad design, your opinion is just bad.
