Its honestly pretty wild. In order for me to match 100-140k DPS on a large pack, I have to get mind sear procs on every single mind blast.
Are people really having problems doing damage in m+ as shadow right now? Like thereās issues with flexibility and recovering in bad pulls but thatās way different than feeling like the numbers arenāt thereā¦
Yeah Iāve also been reading these posts and confused because Iāve been running a bugged build and pulling 60k overall despite not really knowing what Iām doing. Iām just playing to the talents I picked. In large packs, it doesnāt take procs to get to 120k. Thatās like the standard when I pop a CD. Giga procs push me way higher.
Shadow priests I play with quite often are doing pretty good damage, too.
Shadow feels OK in M+ right now. Itās definitely not meta, but the posts talking about how much they struggle are wild to me.
I think its more about the way how you get to these numbers. Current m+ dungeons are just āswirlliesā simulators multiplied by seasonal afix.
The fact that you have to move so much while playing a caster that have to stand still and chanell is anoyng af. Cant wait for 10.0.5 where i will have to clip torrent because of some bull on the ground.
This was much more of a problem prior to this week, now we not only have SoD to use on unexpected movement in AoE but MFI makes stuttering on devouring plague VERY comparable, if not slightly better than sear once dots are sufficiently extended if you follow it up with MFI.

I think this will be the build that I run I honestly Enjoy Running Contrition It normally makes up about 5% or of my healing next to Divine Aegis which is 6% Ill Prob still tinker with The Shadow coven Node Idk exactly. Ill Prob just go ahead and take the Base Talent for now. With the changes with harsh discipline i believe im able to take a point out of that and put it somewhere else Due to having two Mind blasts and Solace being and added addition to it , my only concern with putting two points into it is that im gonna Over Capp the harsh disc procs idk weāll see But im reaaaly excited to test out some things
Shadow slaps in keys. I honestly love running with them because you can get quad PI in the group. We used that to absolutely melt through the +20 AV trash.
Some Holy build ideas for 10.0.5
Raid:
M+:
Yeaā¦shadow priest dmg is still so bad. Single target doesnt make any senseā¦ really have no rotation or any big burst dmg like all the other classes. Hope for rng proc to do good aoe dmg and hope for your skills to crit. 407 as right now Just not playing much because spriest is under performing. AOE is RNG but why does it have to be rngā¦single target is clunky with no big dmg hitā¦ for example. How does our mindbender not scale with haste or anythingā¦ yet every other classes pet/minions scale. Even the new rework boomkin is better.
This is likeā¦ so untrue itās insane.
It doesā¦
Only real complaint I have about Shadow is itās still so damn reliant on Shadow Crash to do good AOE damage.
When a boss spawns adds on a less than 30 second timer, you just wanna double face palm every time.
āI promise guys, Iām not AFKā¦ just my class only lets me do things to more than a couple of targets every 30 seconds.ā
2nd boss in CoS and to some extent the tree in AA. The rest are some degree of manageable but those 2 really feel horrendous.
Iām just starting to level a shadow priest, coming back after a very long break from WoW. I played some in the past, but the the DF version definitely has issues.
Shadow Crash needs a shorter CD if weāre going to be so reliant on it. It might be fine in higher level content, but I tried a few timewalking dungeons and everything died so fast I had no clue what to even do.
Lack of a spammable AoE is a problem. As per the previous point, if things die fast, youāre left with nothing to do but try and spam shadow word pain to get in one tic or two. Not everyone is running 10+ keys all the time.
Button bloat. Too many keys to press, all doing the same sort of thing. I donāt need 5 different AoE abilities on different CDs and then have to try and count how many mobs are left so I know which one I should press.
Along with the bloat, the rotation is ridiculously overly complicated if you want to maximize dps.
Mobility or lack thereof. Needs something for mobility. Anything.
Honestly, most of the specs in Dragonflight are pretty bad. Itās more a case of finding one that sucks the least than finding one that is really fun. The content is great, classes need a lot of work, including shadow priest. Overall, I like it more than most other specs, so Iāll continue to struggle along.
Power Word: Life tooltip is wrong. It does not do what the tooltip says. Itās mega heal only ever works on me below 35% health, never anyone else.
Court of Stars Tyrannical is normally an easy key, but I swear, Iām more useless than a trash-flavored popsicle on the 2nd boss, when she summons those imps. The first wave is fine, but then she summons a second within 20 secondsā¦ and Iām sitting here with seemingly no real way to do any significant damage to them on a +16 Tyrannical until long after they need to be dead.
How does a DPS class have no way to do DPS on a particular boss due to the way the encounter works?
Blizzard really needs to fix this. We either need a way to do reliable AoE damage without our dots rolling on everything or we need a shorter cooldown on Shadow Crash or something.
I dislike all the numbers tuning because now the damage is so good, that they wonāt feel a need to look at the fundamental reasons people donāt like playing spriest
How does a whole class not have a way to survive a raid boss because of the way the encounter works?
This and many other questions, never to be answered.
Hyperbole aside, I agree, something needs to happen to help us spread dots more consistently. Most of our kit depends on VT being on targets. Iād also like to see shadow crash changed from a ground-targeted spell. Itās too easy to miss if tank moves mobs, ceiling/environment get in the way, etc. Iād also be perfectly happy to have another way to spread dots that is more consistent than shadow crash (iām a big proponent of changing dark void into a useful option in aoe instead of only relying on shadow crash).
I donāt dislike the numbers tuningāitās the only reason iām even playing my priest right nowābut it does make me worry that blizz is just going to tune, and never fix the myriad of problems with the spec/tree.
Basically, itās feeling like history is repeating itself again.
Just out of curiosity, which class is that? Iāve heard Hunters are having some difficulty in higher Mythics, but didnāt know an entire class was getting screwed in Vault.
Priests cannot survive rasz winds consistently on mythic without resorting to jank engineering items and racials. Itās technically possible but the amount of cheese and lost uptime from being put against the edge of the room and having to manually walk back every 45 seconds is insane.
