10.0 new class: Tinker

Eww, I’m sorry no way. Gobs and gnomes are not the only techy races in wow.

Look at what maghar and Draenie have in their arsenal. There’s no reason all races can’t learn the ways of the tinker. Just like how all races can learn the ways of the monk.

Only reason why gobs and worgen aren’t monks was because their starting experience was time locked before MoP. And LFD because they didn’t have pandaren in space.

But all 4 will be eligible for monks in the future for sure.

Yeah, this is the same reason core race Death Knights can’t be monks either. Their starting experience is time gates to WOTLK.

No new classes, balancing is already a mess.

Well yeah they can camo around but that’s all part of the nature survivalist theme hunters have.

A ranged rogue would be more sinister and percise. Probably focus on misdirection and smoke and mirrors and their superior stealth/agility.

Sure there’s some overlap, but you can argue that with holy priests and holy paladins and blizz still finds ways to make them stand out from one another

Balance is a fiction. Well never have true balance. We’ll never get new permanent content with that logic.

Might as well never get new abilities or talents for every expansion too.

Look how much some classes dominated s1 in SL just from their covenant spell alone.

Yo am I going crazy or did you change this threads body/title :rofl:

Haha I did. This is more about Tinkers than anything else.

All three.

Honestly I don’t care about balance, I are about people complaining about balance and adding a new class would be a huge issue. The game doesn’t need new classes anyway.

As the years go by wow is gonna need new races, new classes, new specs, new abilities, etc etc.

How else you think the game has been alive since 2004. Never introducing a new class again isn’t gonna cut it.

Not sure why people find it so implausible. You already fought a Tinker in Battle for Dazar’alor and several in Motherlode. It is also pretty easy to fit into any lore scenario (new battle armor for xyz new threat).

My guess is they would treat it like druids. You “shapeshift” into armor mode to tank, maybe a slightly different visual one to dps, and healing would likely stay in current form (think Alchemist hero).

As far as likelyhood - it is pretty likely. All of the classes are combos of W3 heroes/units with iconic abilities mixed in.

Pally → Pally
Archmage/Blood Mage → Mage
Mountain King → Warrior

Blade Master → Warrior
Farseer → Shaman
Tauren Chieftain → Warrior/Tauren race

Even the less obvious classes
Warden-> Rogue (shadowstep+fan of knives)/Mage (blink)
Lich-> DK

So on.

It basically leaves you with the neutral heroes. Tinker/Alchemist being the most likely not already represented. Dark Ranger and Sea Witch are too similar to Hunters.

The only way you would see something like Warden or Dark Ranger come in would be if they pull what they did with Legion. Pull from one class in order to create another (gimp demonology in order to create DH).

I mean I could solve the dark ranger fantasy almost immediately by adding black arrow baseline (instead of sylv bow ) or via a glyph on existing arrow shot. Then add glyph that permanently makes your pet look like an undead skeleton. An aoe silence will never happen. Transmog/race cosmetics can take care of the rest.

If anything I think people should be asking for more cosmetics to let them fill out some of those class fantasies. Black arrow cosmetic. Undead forms that resemble non-human races. More hooded darker tones (if Dark Ranger is what you are going for), etc.

People just have their own biases as to what class they want and for we reason tinker just doesn’t mesh well with some of them.

I can’t imagine why a freaking high tech class doesn’t tickle their fancy but to each their own.

No. Not it will not.

I’d just go with three specs with the tank spec using the mech the most (almost like a druid form).

Tank spec uses the mech and generates shields and turrets to assist but mostly relies on the strength of the mech itself to tank.

Healing Spec, that can temporarily call upon its mech but otherwise uses elixirs and healing grenades. This spec uses a gun generally and is ranged, lobbing those potions elixirs and grenades into battle. Also uses some turrets in a similar way to totems.

DPS spec relying on guns, grenades and turrets to stymie enemies and do massive amounts of aoe damage. All big bombs and tech. Occasionally uses a mech in a temporary setup as well, though has a talent to make the Mech more like a druid form as well giving two paths for this spec to take.

That would give them a lot of utility and fun.

Um, it most definitely will just from process of elimination to all potential classes.

Look as long as you can use all mech mounts as additional skins for your mech I’m happy.

I once tanked the last 3-5% of the panther boss in Vanilla ZG as a rogue with Evasion.

So I fully approve this idea!
