There is a balance. If you just focus on quest and run back and forth once your quest are complete its actually pretty slow going.
However, any pure farming loop will be better if you can incorporate a few quest.
The biggest problem with ‘no quest’ is the lack of keep up gear you get through quest completion. But say you farm a lucrative mob, then who cares about quest gear.
Or do what I did, and spend most of 50-60 killing Timbermaw mobs in Azshara, not realizing that Timbermaw was a faction I should aspire to friendship with.
I ended up paying people to be summoned to Everlook for the Winterspring FP rather than fight through the tunnel to get there the normal way. Apparently those Timbermaw, they hold a grudge.

A tip I can give people for grinding, is caves are win. Keeps randoms from interfering with your grind since you can leave a few mobs by the door blocking access, and there’s usually enough mobs to perpetually farm in peace.
Of course it is. Never said it wasn’t. Somewhere in the world, someone probably eats dog $hit and thinks its the best thing in the world. Which is why I said in my first post “whatever floats your boat.”
