I’ve played FF14. I played 1.0, and I’ve played the more recent version. It’s not my preferred style, and I’ve chosen to play Warcraft instead. I know people in-game who have the same feelings.
FF14 is a ‘grass is greener’ situation.

A good reminder that it can always be worse.
I just know whatever nonsense they release next better be less restrictive theme parky. Stop creating walls around things and let us do what we want to do how we want to do it.
If you’re going to make borrowed power (please dont) make it open and free.
I can’t see any expansion doing well until we get new people in charge and proper talent in the development team
Not only that it’s where they’re located at in California…to put it into perspective if I applied and got a job at Blizzard I would need to make $160,000 a year to maintain my current standard of living.
Ten will happen.
9.3 probably wont.
The question is how long will 9.2 take to get out the door and will there be another nearly year long content drought after that.
I think the strategic mistake they made is they thought they could get away with six to ten months between content patches. Turns out they probably can’t.
fastest selling.
fastest dropoff of players in wow history. maybe even more than bfa
It’s just too old of a game. I’m amazing it has lasted this long.
We need WoW 2.
dumbest thing i’ve ever read on the forums.
and that says a lot
I have been saying this for about a month now. The writing is on the wall that the smart business decision is to have SL as the last expansion. This really is the perfect time to end it. Since they can release WotLK Classic next year and just do mini patches for SL taking gamers into 2023/24 with new titles like D4, Overwatch 2 and maybe a new planned WoW 2.
Lemme stop ya right there MonkstAr! The state of Shadowlands from a player perspective is opinion, the state of SL from a Blizzard perspective is positive, why? Revenue is solid
- Blizzard segment revenue grew 7% year-over-year, led by strong growth in the Warcraft® franchise, with World of Warcraft’s Shadowlands expansion building on the substantial increase in scale seen since the launch of World of Warcraft Classic in 2019. Blizzard had 27 million MAUsD in the first quarter.
- World of Warcraft’s Shadowlands expansion continued to drive strong results following its record-setting release in November, with first quarter franchise net bookingsB growing sharply year-over-year. World of Warcraft saw strong reach, engagement and participation in value added services, along with a particularly high number of new players joining the community for the first time, boosted by initiatives to enhance the onboarding experience.
So now why after reading that would I get the feeling there won’t be a 10.0? If Blizz can continue the financial success producing SL expansions then why not release more SL expansions?
I’m unaware of Blizzard releasing any sub numbers :[
If it’s not will you wear a surprised pikachu mask?
It doesn’t matter what Blizz thinks it matters what gamers think which is why WoW isn’t the most popular MMO right now. They fail to realize this and that is why WoW is in the desperate position that it is in. 9.1 is currently a flop and it took them too long to get it out. This isn’t going to end how you think it will.
I think Blizz can save face and apologize for SL then start by making actions to correct the wrong they have done so the healing can begin in the community.
I will go back to playing Aion or The Division 2 before I waste any more time on FFXIV. If WoW fails, it just means I will have more time for SWToR, ARMA 3 or Minecraft in my gaming rotation.
mmm no, I don’t think it matters what anyone thinks I think what matters is what shows up in peoples bank statements
As long as people are paying you can expect the expansions to keep coming no matter how anyone feels about it.
Imagine if you will, you run a company and you make $26m a month ($12.99 * 2 million players with 6 month subs, I chose 6 months so it’s the lowest possible figure) are you going to just close your doors because some consumers think your product is poor yet you’re still making that $26m a month?
Heck no, those doors are going to stay WIDE open, with wal-mart greeters
We can only hope
8 and 9 weren’t failures for the company. In fact, they were huge successes financially and made them tons. Their financial earnings every quarter show them making more and more, even tho their MAU (Monthly Active Users) decreases.
They’re making money so they’ll keep going. No guarantee on quality of the game though. It’s as simple as that.
While the playerbase is smaller than ever there’s a lot of corporate shills who whale super hard for this game. Their profit margins are still up and that’s all they care about anymore.
GD: Blizzard hasn’t given us sub numbers since WoD
Also GD: Subs are lower than they’ve ever been!!!
Looks at muh empty friends list
Don’t question my methods Sunzsu they are infallible
But profits go up each quarter. Logic makes no sense.
LOL.
Blizz is still keeping HotS and SC2 online. What makes you think they’d shut down WoW, which undoubtably makes far far more money for the company than either of those games.
