10.0 may not happen

Anyone getting the feeling because of how bad SL is that this maybe the end of the game. Subs have never been down for retail as they are now. Ff14 is actually driving everyone from this. I expect an announcement that SL will be wows final expansion.

Of course it’ll happen. It’s silly to think it won’t.

How good it’ll be, who knows.

10.0 will definitely happen. 9.0 sold nearly 4 million units, that is not a small amount of money just from box sales.

yea…I think activision is done with the money wow brings in. Their shareholders will enjoy the drop in stock price.

Well, with all competition about, 10.0 will either be really good, or a farce.

As with most things, blizz is bit too slow to react.

Maybe. it’s possible blizzard HQ will close down completely and the rights to Warcraft will be sold to Disney.

Methinks the dev team will finally have their day of reckoning with Activision and there will be a leadership change. Who knows. From what I know about nublizzard they might have to do some serious house cleaning to turn things around. It might not even be possible if they are in CA at this point. The cultural damage inflicted on blizzard over the years has slowly poisoned all of their IPs.

I just cant see how corporate would want to do 10.0 after the failure 9 was.

Biggest issue is them being in CA, expensive for employees, and sub-standard salaries. They can’t attract any new talent.

They can still make some money. FF14 just appeals to weebs and casuals too much. The raids and dungeons (and pvp) are very lack luster.

That, and the blue haired tyrants killing off innovation

pulls some nails out of WoWs coffin to make room for more

What’s with the stupid theories getting posted today…

Of course there will be a 10.0. As long as this game continues to make money, Blizzard will continue to develop content for it. It’s their cash cow at this stage, they’re not going to kill it without a replacement for it, and they don’t have one.

Pretty much.
Valorant beats OW(OW2)
PoE beats Diablo4 (Unless they can really pull it off)
RTS gone
Hearthstone not sure how it’s doing

WoW is only thing going okay.

I really doubt that WoW will stop releasing expansions anytime soon. The quality of the expansions is where my concern rests, I’m curious the direction this game shall go. For all we know, the game may become phenomenal and draw in a lot of the players who have left, as well as new subscribers.

WoW’s failure relative to its own successes is pretty devastating.

WoW’s failure relative to other players on the market is a lot less so. Other MMOs have failed harder and are still around. I dunno when Ashes is supposed to come out, New World will be out in about six weeks (we’ll have to see if Amazon can finally land a game properly) and FF14’s expack is out in Nov? Depending on how long 9.2 spends in the oven the holiday season could be an even lower point, and even THEN…I’m sure 10.0 will still be a thing.

As others have said, whether it’s good is another matter entirely.

This. Not to mention droughts and forest fires displacing entire communities and wreaking havoc on real estate. Hopefully Blizz learns to adjust and bets on Work From Home more.

I actually think that Shadowlands was used as a cover for some overhauls that will come in 10. Should be easier to explain the possible changes that might be made.

That’s my hope, at least.

Yeah 9.2 needs to be really good.

Because we know it won’t be coming out until Christmas at least, and so many releases between.

I don’t think they can rely on TBC to keep people playing, already see it not doing that well.

If it doesn’t, it wouldn’t be the end of the world for me :man_shrugging:

I hope they’ll put SL stuff into Chromie time, though. That way the endgame could be whatever expansion people like

Nothings gonna change until the management does.

People don’t change. Move Ion to raids where he does his best work, and let someone who knows how to make mmo’s lead the game development.

Whatever culture they have now, or system they have now isn’t working.

I mean, how hard was it to make an afterlife expansion? Should have been 2 covenants, light vs dark aligned, with oribos acting like a central hub and players being in a type of purgatory. Something that would actually resonate with people and be based off of a culture that would be understood by most people in the world.

Instead we got this nonsensical trash of kyrian, undead, vampire, and druid. It just is not grounded in anything and I don’t understand how this got through the way it did. How hard is it to write a good warcraft story lmao? Why the fk would the shadowlands need a military and why would it be the undead? Nothing about this story or theme makes any sense, and as far as the zone design goes, I was entirely underwhelmed. They look like any other normal zone, despite the potential for radical new designs and otherworldly effects. We still use flight paths ffs.

Whatever is happening over at blizzard will eventually lead to ruin and losses. IDK what solution there is but if I were Bobby Kotick I’d fire almost all of the leadership and maybe move the whole studio to Texas.
