I’m currently diving headfirst into 100% completion mode on my Mage—clearing every zone, collecting all transmog, farming every tailoring recipe—and I kicked things off with Burning Crusade. While the nostalgia is great, a few quality of life improvements would make the journey a lot smoother (and more fun).
Mounting While Farming in Old Expansions – We can gather on a mount in Dragonflight and The War Within, so why not extend this to older expansions? I’d even be happy to complete a Timewalking questline to unlock the ability—just don’t make me dismount every 10 seconds while farming herbs and ore.
Easier Dungeon & Raid Exits – Some dungeons have a handy teleport to the entrance, while others leave you trekking back on foot (unless you’re a Mage, in which case—lucky you). A feature like EverQuest’s Succor spell could help, or something similar to the Flightpath Whistle that works in certain expansions. Or, if we’re feeling extra spicy, let us summon a dungeon/raid-specific mount inside old instances—kind of like the AQ bug mounts.
Boss & Dialogue Skipping – Icecrown lets you teleport between wings after you’ve cleared them, so why not apply this to other raids? We’ve all run these places dozens of times—just let us skip to the boss we need. And while we’re at it, can we please skip the unskippable roleplay sequences? I love a good cutscene (Ysera’s will forever break me), but I don’t need to hear the Lich King monologue for the millionth time before I can loot my disappointment.
Make Soulbound Items Warbound – Farming Netherwing Eggs or recipes for your main? Too bad, they’ll always drop on an alt instead. Would be great if these soulbound items could be account-wide (Warbound), so we’re not stuck playing “Wrong Character Roulette” forever.
Remove Old Tradeskill Cooldowns – Some of these cooldowns are brutal. Doing one transmute locks out every transmute from other expansions. And let’s not even talk about how it took me almost three months to collect all Pandaria tailoring recipes because of daily cooldowns. Let’s ease up on the time gates for old content—nobody’s breaking the economy with a few extra transmutes.
TL;DR – Quality of Life Wishlist
Mounting while gathering in old expansions
More convenient dungeon/raid exits
Skip boss runs & unnecessary dialogue**
Make soulbound items Warbound
Remove outdated tradeskill cooldowns
Blizzard, help collectors out! Let’s make 100% completion mode a little less painful.
I’m going strong on year #8 of advocating for a dedicated Legacy Team can could address all of these issues that have in fact been requested and brought by the community many times before.
I admire your dedication. I personally don’t recommend going through with it.
Not to discourage you or anything, but it’s just that completionism in this game hinges SO MUCH on pure luck instead of dedication, that it’s just an unhealthy thing to commit to. You could easily go 10 years with a specific piece or mount not dropping. That is beyond stupid, and unsustainable.
I understand that, got Invincible in January of 2024, and Wrath came out in 2008 I know its all about RNG. I am having fun with it and while my primary focus is on Burning Crusade, I do jump around between expansions and just do whatever floats my boat. I also spend a day or so working on current content as to not get burnt out.
All of these are great suggestions.
I’d really love a convenient way to escape dungeons/raids.
Hint: you can always queue up for a follower dungeon, zone in, and immediately leave and it’ll drop you outside of whatever dungeon/raid you were in. It’s about the only reliable way to get out of some dungeons without hearthing.
The warband-wide transmog rules have changed for the better and it’s been lovely for collecting mogs from old places, but still not perfect.
Starting and leaving a group finder group puts you at the nearest graveyard, which is usually not that much of an imposition…except in whichever one of the Coilfang dungeons doesn’t have a proper exit, and the Tempest Keep dungeons.
Yes, one of the Tempest Keep dungeons has an exit, but Arcatraz does not, and it’s a minute and a half of dialogue
As for the rest of it, yes, warband transmog rules are a runner’s best friend.
HEY BLIZZ, IF YOU’RE LISTENING, PLEASE UP THE DROP RATES ON SUNWELL PATTERNS, IT’S NOT LIKE ANYONE ACTUALLY USES THE RESULT, JUST PLEASE LET ME HAVE ONE USEFUL NEW PATTERN A WEEK WHEN I RUN IT ON TEN TOONS :(((((
Honestly I feel like Druid might be better if you’re looking to level gathering professions. You can herb while in Flight form, and while you’ll still get “dismounted” while mining, Flight form is instant-cast.
Sure QOL stuff is all good and stuff…but honestly give this goal up now. It’s absurd and the juice is nowhere near the squeeze. I can all but guarantee even “if” you somehow got it you will end up resenting it more than anything for how tedious and frustrating it is to get select things let alone ALL the new stuff that comes out down the line (which includes tendy things).
would dig this, pun intended as a miner. esp. if we could regen skyriding vigor mining/gathering outside TWW…
You can, but I recall that that’s only possible if you don’t land. as in, you have to maneuver your vessel such that you can reach the node, but not actually make contact with the ground. Is that still how it works?
i use that when i was attempting to clean up some 3rd tier mining ranks in Legion. I would switch to steady state flying, or whatever it’s called, when i got to an area to farm, and then reset to skyriding when leaving. Worked well, just needed to make sure i didn’t land
