The only reason I could think of really is you need to have people to play with, or you will get bored. It is fun initially, but without others to share in the fun with, it doesn’t have staying power.

MMOs’ addictive properties are based on intermittent reinforcement, a completely different mechanism than that found in substance abuse.

The only reason I play WoW is because old friends do. If it wasn’t for us all having a game in common I would’ve moved on years ago. That’s the only reason I’ll ever need to keep playing.

I do sometimes think how my life would be different if I played guitar (which I do enjoy) for the amount of hours I put into this game. I think that’s a better life. Alas.

Sounds like a you problem.

That is why people can take 3month - 5 years+ breaks without caring at all just like drug users!

How do you know? People can have passive income and work aside from home.
