10+ Mythics LFG :(

I find it incredibly difficult to find groups as WW as most 10+ groups are looking for ranged which I get that, but what do we really offer over other melee classes?

If anyone has any tips to get into mythic groups besides the obvious "increase your IO" that would also help me out a bit.
Other than increasing your IO, the only other solutions are to play a more desirable class (Demon Hunter or rogue) that offers more utility. People don't go seeking WW's because DH's and Rogues are better in every regard. All we offer in terms of utility is basically 1 aoe stun and the extreme corner cases where ring of peace is useful.

Do what I'm doing, and make friends with people that have high keys and are willing to run them with you. When you do keys and you see skilled players, add them to your friends list.

Honestly who cares about 10. +9 is so easy to get into.
It's pretty easy to get a group as Brewmaster or Mistweaver.

Honestly I think WW is one of those specs that are actually pretty good in M+ but suffer from being melee and competing with Rogue and DH, it's not as strong as it was in Legion but it's not bad either. My first +15 in time was actually with a WW monk in the group, he did really well (actually I think it's my only timed 15 so far).

Ofc if community perception deems your spec undesirable it makes things much harder.

In terms of Utility you have AOE stun, Ring of Peace (which is actually really good, don't underestimate it), Mystic Touch, Paralysis, Detox (as a Priest I can't dispel poison so this one comes really useful for me), and some less important but still useful sometimes spells in Tiger's Lust and Regular rez, which ofc is not nearly as good as battle rez but it does come handy sometimes, at least as a healer is nice to have a dps do it so you can drink and be full mana for the next pull or sometiemes you have a group where only the healer can rez if the healer dies and you skipped something in the dungeon you are screwed.

Just go MW.
And after the MDI, even unholy DKs are better than WW lol...

I'm having a bit of trouble getting into them as well. It was actually much easier getting into 7's and lower, than it's been trying to get in to 10's, even though I've been steadily increasing my IO score. (It's a little over 800 right now...)

But yes, I don't think there's anything I'm offering that another class can't do better. And while I like to think my DPS is pretty good, it's never as good as an equally skilled DH or Rogue.

Very strongly considering going back to my rogue.

yeah pugging is a bit swing or miss. but as another poster said, just getting together with a bunch of friends is the far easier way to get keys done 10 and above.

There’s nothing you can do about it except reroll. The meta was already solved, look at the class breakdowns for M10-M15+: 80% of the dps in m10+ are rogue, mage, DH, boomkin, lock and BM hunter.

The only exceptions to that are high-end groups carrying their friends who are high ilvl but suboptimal classes. Or, a normally bad dps spec that might be good for one particular dungeon with one particular set of affixes. Outside of that you’re SOL if you’re not one of the specs listed above.

It’s a rough life. I still pug like 95% of my runs, the other 5% is with a lock and hunter friend. You just gotta keep at it. Luckily I really enjoy playing ww, so I’ll just take a hit on missing a lot of keys.

A disturbing number of people care about IO. It bugs me because I want to do one mythic for specific items, not have to run four others I hate just to raise a pointless number so I can get a group for the one mythic I want to do. It’s a horrible side game I have to manipulate. Plus it does nothing to show a person’s individual skill.

IO is the new gearscore. It was crap back in wrath and nothing has changed.

It’s worse on my opinion. But they are both garbage

IO isn’t going to change much for you. Either find a group of people that don’t care that you’re literally just a worse DH is every single way that you can play with, play Brew/MW, or just reroll. Until they uncap fists of fury we’re going to continue being trash in M+.

blizzard and raider io have created a meta that you arnt apart of.you will have to ask guildies or make you own group.i dont care for m+ really ill have allied races and heritage armor while they push keys.

doing the same dungeons over and over and over is mind numbing i cant do it.

Sums up the boat I’m in right now pretty well actually.

There is this guy is really good. So it’s definitely possible to run high keys with WW. I think a lot has to do with community perception.

Yeah, I agree on that. I think there are indeed some specs that are lackluster in M+ but WW is not one of them. I agree that DH right now is almost objectively stronger, and Rogue is mandatory for a lot of dungeons so there’s not really room for other melee at the very high end.

And people at all levels always try to emulate what the best players do, most of the community knows that Rogue and DH are the two best DPSers to bring but don’t know much after that, I’d bring a WW (given that he has proven experience in the content) any day to my M+ runs and be very happy about it.

In general if the player is good enough you can bring any spec, at least at the range I play at which is 14 to 16 keys. Ofc Rogue is almost mandatory for many dungeons but after that I would be very happy with a WW monk, or Ele shaman, or any warlock for example. Really the only spec I try to avoid and would only take if the player is really good is shadow priest, for one I think they lack good utility tools for M+ and also I play priest already so what they bring overlaps with my own stuff.

My monk is my main followed by an almost equally geared warlock. I am not a hardcore M+ player but do some high level keys (always with guild). Overall I think my windwalker has more balanced and consistent damage when taking into account both trash and bosses combined with descent stuns, interrupts, cc, etc. The lock obviously has health stones and brez, but in playing affliction you feel like a god on bosses and then like you are being carried on trash. I guess they balance out?

In regards to raid io or whatever… I almost think part of it is people using these crazy comps to do keys that maybe were not intended to be clearing consistently yet? I have no idea; to me it kinda seems like some of the keys being completed this xpac to this point are higher than in Legion? I could be nuts.

I think the 8.1 changes will actually help for M+ and hoping it will be a little buff (unless you are one of those you gets like 11% out of ToK and every single CD no matter what.
