I got one more week in me of scarlet enclave. Went 8/8 already but with 40 people. It was fun and a cool experience but i dont see how i can bring less than 40 and clear efficiently.
Went with a different raid team in our guild and we went 7/8 in 4 hours and it definitely felt rough.
We need some nerfs so we can go back to 20-25 players and get closer to reasonable clear times.
I dont mind playing more but its just too taxing to play at this point.

Yeah big agree. This is a pretty bad pug raid unless you’re doing 30+ (Probably 35+).
For what it’s worth, though I do believe Blizzard genuinly tried very hard to make this a fun raid for people to enjoy and I can see a lot of effort was put in. Unfortunately imo they went way overboard and forgot that they are dealing with People who can’t really raid 4-12 hours a week.

I keep wondering if the devs actually cleared the raid in testing but I’m fairly certain they don’t have enough people on their team these days.

Even the guilds are doing 30-40 people. This raid is too hard for 20 man.

Yeah. Naxx was rough when we went for 4-5 hours when it first came out. Scarlet requires 6-7 hours to clear. Too much time

Yeah honestly thats a bit much. I mean it is the first week and progression on an untested raid is bound to happen but when you bring twice the normal or accepted amount into a SoD raid and it takes that long?
I mean that just means with full bis and 20 people you’re looking at 3-5 hours when you factor in the ICC style buff and all the gear you’ll have. Even if people aren’t parsing insanely high or anything it’s bizarre to think a 40 man didn’t shred through the place like paper.

Agreed. I don’t want to spend 30 wipes and 5 hours on one boss. That’s not fun. Please make this raid actually tuned for 20 players.

Not only is the time requirement too much. Every single wipe in progg easily cost me 30g and im not even sweating it up like some of my guildies. Thats not even accounting for wbuffs or feast.

aside from the tuning adjustments that really should be made to make this more doable with 20-25 people the clear time is probably the biggest hurdle our guild is facing. We run 2 raid groups with no availability for multi night prog/clear and the sheer amount of trash and massive healthpools being compounded by multiple attempts on bosses makes it seem unlikely to clear in one night even if things went smoothly in it’s current iteration.
Absolute shame though because I do genuinely like this raid aside from those issues.
Pretty sure a couple of my guildies that had to miss main nights joined your pugs as well and I bet they’d be sad to see you leave.

They should do targeted nerfs on enrage timers for bosses like Mason as creators like KaghoeGaming have suggested. The mechanics are fine but you should be able to play SoD in a wacky off-meta build so enrage timers should be more forgiving. Balnazzar, Beatrix and Solistraza feel very doable for a 20man of dads

It’s a shame that the raid is a bit of a headache right now. I really like the raid itself and the story of whats going on within it.
The headaches don’t come from the mechanics, but the raw numbers of the fights whether they be raid damage, boss health, amount of trash and health of trash. The amount of trash just between Balnazzar and Beatrix is plainly not fun.
I think there is probably a lot more tuning that can be done in regards to the numbers, and i really hope it helps to speed up the overall raid.

For groups in the 21-40 player bracket bringing up to twice the amount of players the raid is supposedly designed for.
1 week after release only 26 guilds have full cleared.
90% of groups running with 30+ people still can’t get past 5/8.

Seeing how Beatrix was on release, I seriously doubt they tested the raid without using god mode and full p8 bis.

I agree. Fun raid. Too much time is on trash and bringing more people to clear sucks. Its been 1 lockout already. They need to make the adjustments already.

We mainly host PuG raids for our server and I cannot see us clearing this raid in our 3 hour window even with one shooting bosses. Too much trash, they need to do something about it for sure. We got to the third boss on our first week in about 2 hours with only 3 wipes on bal and 2 on Beatrice. Trash is such a time sink

Sod had its ups and downs.
I guess this is it though. Might come back to mess around here and there, but I’m not really that interested anymore. Hope this experiment and experience was good for all.
Phase 1,3 and 7 were fun for me.

We one shot the first 5 bosses and got the 6th boss on the 2nd pull. Killed the 7th boss barley. This took 4 hours.
The 8/8 run i did took 7 hours and it was world 5 in fastest clears last week. They really want us to be in there all day.

The first 5 bosses feel fine with 25 people. Cleared them in about 90 minutes on Tuesday. Council is where it gets rough. Heading back in tonight with around 25 again, hope we can get past them.
That is insane. 4 hours without a full clear with that performance, I’d be livid.
I truly hope the devs see the reaction and adjust accordingly in the future with more Classic projects. SoD was the most successful when it was accessible and aimed towards the more casual playerbase. Things don’t need to be faceroll zero effort easy. But this is ridiculous. It really looks more like a Retail raid experience than a Classic one.
