1 button rotation is fine

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the one button rotation. It will just raise the skill floor and do nothing to the skill ceiling . There is a GCD penalty, and it will never be optimized for all situations. This will allow people who are just bad at the game for any reason to at least not be a super hard carry in content or more easily solo world content.

About 25 years ago now when we were late teens my brother was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, after many years of struggle and extreme stress for everyone in the family we finally found a medication that worked well for him and he is doing well now, considering the outcome many with this disease face. Saying that the medication effects him in many ways. Including his reaction time and overall mental capacity. On top of that he will never be interested in researching his class in any meaningful way and just will never be that good at the game, but I still enjoy playing with him as it’s one of the things we can do together on a regular basis. A few weeks ago we were doing some Timewalking. Him as an Outlaw rog and me as a Holy priest. We were steamrolling the dungeon. As were we lower levels the priest I was playing just had to spam holy nova to get good dps and keep everyone alive. My brother being not the best player, playing a brand-new class to him and as an outlaw rog got kicked mid dungeon for just “auto attacking”. I can guarantee you he was present and playing to the best of his ability considering outlaw rog, low level and not the best player. First off there was absolutely no reason to kick him as stuff was melting anyway but if he has this 1 button rotation it might have helped him not get kicked. He and I also do LFR and while he doesn’t really get kicked it can absolutely look like he is almost just auto attacking sometimes. So this one button rotation would help him with that. I avoid normal raids with him for this reason. But it would be nice to allow him to progress a little beyond LFR and into normal and us not having to worry about his bad dps as he mostly stays alive pretty good. I might also use this for console if it comes to console for casual stuff.

This community needs to take a step back have compassion, stop gate keeping content and just think outside your own little world. The above situation is good example of who this feature is for. Its not going to magically made him a top heroic or world first raider and you aren’t going to lose your raid spot. I always think of the situation in wow and think imagine if professional sports players treated the lower league players the way many wow players treat players who they feel aren’t as good as them. It would be terrible and that’s what it is here.

One of the great things about this game is the varying tiers of content. We have abundant choice to play whatever difficulty we wish. We have Normal dungeons, Heroic Dungeons, Mythic Dungeons, LFR, Normal Raid, Heroic Raid, Mythic Raid. All of which can be played as desired. Sweats can chase the min/max dream and optimize their rotations and specs and gear to push themselves and more casual players can achieve their goals.

The one button rotation option won’t take anything away from the min/max people or hamper their progress in any way. This will make a complex game accessible to new players and allow them the option to observe how the spec should perform under ideal conditions and then they can manually perform their rotations if they want to squeeze more dps and pursue more challenging content.

I do agree that this game is a complicated game, and oftentimes it feels overwhelming even for seasoned players. There could be better tutorials to teach players how to play new specs or navigate different dungeon or raid mechanics. Blizzard could absolutely do a better job of telegraphing one shot mechanics and cast bars and player cool downs. Maybe some more obvious visual cues or audio cues when people pop CDs would be nice.

However, I do believe that the many tiers of crafted and acquired gear and all the different currencies need to be simplified a bit.

The game is becoming more of an ARPG with each update. Sad, but Blizzard has lost touch with what made WoW great in Vanilla.

How this isn’t the common reaction for everyone is absolutely astounding for me. There are people losing their minds over something that they will literally never notice or affect them in any way other than maybe slightly narrow the DPS performance gap.

These changes are so your grandma can play. It’s like arguing about color blind mode.

Heck sad thing is I am pretty sure people did complain about it, or at the very least have a “wow they can do this but not do X type of reaction.” Pretty sure some people were opposed to the visual marker improvements for swirlies this season though.

I say its not bad, could help out in learning a class and should be given attention to during the class trial.

One concern I got is the extra work needed to update the one button rotation every time a class/spec/hero talent gets updated. Could incentivize them to not give big reworks as often or keep gameplay aspects for some classes that could use a revisit or outright full rework, like the festering wound mechanic for unholy DK imo.

The good thing is the vast majority of this community is very compassionate and very understanding and are very good people. It’s a very small minority in here and in game who crossed the line and probably should be removed from the community entirely both here and in game.
When you start getting to the point where you’re mocking and ridiculing disabled players I think it’s probably time that you’re asked to leave the building.

One thing for certain if Ian wants this one key thing to happen it’s going to happen and it doesn’t matter how many of the 12 of them in here don’t like it, if Ian thinks it’s going to make the game better in his estimation there’s literally not much in heaven or Earth that’s going to stop it, especially a few people complaining in here LOL

I’ll tell you what once the one key thing goes live I am absolutely breaking out one of my priests from the delete list and giving it another shot LOL

I am overly curious how the game will handle the rotation because I certainly do not seem to be able to get a handle on any of the priest specs

I agree that the 1 button isn’t an issue.

Maybe so but I doubt my grandmother is going to be getting into any mythic plus so I don’t think she’s going to need to have top tier damage so this would work perfect for her arthritic hands LOL

Nothing wrong with another person paying $15 a month to play the game and buying all the expansions maybe some toys and mounts along the way

I genuinely wish more people had this mindset.

Lol. Look at how they reacted to steady flight. Oh my God you would have thought that Lucifer had come from the pits of hell and was decimating the planet based on their hyperbolic rhetoric in here LOL

And then when the topic of removing Pathfinder from study flight which is what about 4 hours of gameplay or so maybe at this point, something that they literally have no reason to be grinding and gnashing their teeth about, they are absolutely losing their minds over removing a few hours of Pathfinder for steady flight LMAO

This is why I end up having so many people on my ignore list because I’m not having my time wasted by somebody who’s arguing just to hear their own voices screaming into the wind.

Pathfinder being removed from study flight is not going to affect a single person’s game except for those people who have to use steady flight because they can’t use new flight

And a one button rotation that is gimped on output is not going to affect a single person’s game who doesn’t play in some kind of overly competitive content

now if the one key players start showing up in people’s keys and ruining them yeah okay that’s a problem

What, like…. One button rotations?

oh yeah, especially curious how it will handle healing specs and tank specs. Like I imagine Disc priest be a pain to make a 1 button rotation for because you gotta swap between allies and enemies all the time

on PTR rn

it won’t do heals and tank specific things.

It’s pmuch for DPS

For disc, its a little different cuz you DPS to heal after you get atonement on people. So it handles that spec ok.

It won’t bubble other players, or cast any of your CDs no matter what spec you are in or playing.
You manage your own CDs

The current GCD penalty is +0.3.
So it is a bit slower.

Figured as much. Welp itll be interesting to see how that 1 button rotation will be further developed.

Part of me thinks it’ll be much to keep track on their end with the constant changes and external factors so they will eventually opt for a different method.

idk, can swing both ways rn.

For DPS only players it’s not terrible thats for sure.

Many casual players will likely see an increase in average DPS.

We see how it goes.

What’s funny is that there are fully able bodied players who will very likely be worse than some of the 1 button players because they will continue to outright ignore mechanics.

I have witnessed people way undergeared but who know what they’re doing out perform better geared players pretty often. Dead dps is zero dps – 1 button or not.
