Originally they announced that water walking mounts would become restricted to the expansion they were earned in, because there was this stream in Highmountain where they needed people to swim across and navigate water currents. People were ready to quit over that. So we got an inconvenient gold sink instead.

Except, as I pointed out, “everyone” wasn’t riding the same mount because only 1/3 of accounts even had that mount. And it was removed well before BfA, so it wasn’t put into effect to address that at all. The first time they tried to remove it was during the Legion alpha. At that point they were telling us it had to do with water currents that were part of game mechanics. Nothing to do with BfA.

Thinking about it, SL has no inconvenient bodies of water so it doesn’t even matter.

I use less mounts now with mount equipment Before, I needed a mount that could walk on water (Water Strider) and a mount that could fly that was small (glares at sky golem) now with mount equipment my flying mount is my water walking mount too.

Or they could have not made a mount that walks in water. Water walking is indirectly incentivized by Fishing which was not that popular on those days.

What they really should have done was to allow players to buy mount equipment to attach to individual mounts on each alt. It would have been a great gold sink. My spider could have walked on water like they do in real life.

That’s the main reason why I dont have a Strider. But I have the Fishing Rafter. And the strider is really low priority on me becoz I was a DK during those times. I could walk at any of my mount with my DK.

Not to sound like a captain hindsight, but i was one of those people who disliked the implementation (Albeit strongly at times) of the mount equipment just for how poor the implementation it is and the people are happy with it came over and just tell me that it is a good system. And how they reject the idea of it being better by making it individually socket-able.

I never understood why people defend the current implementation of the Mount Equipment and actively revolt against the idea of giving each individual mount each perk, thus giving more mount customization and choices and making the system better instead of the dressed up Talent Row.

Ehh, i wouldn’t be surprised if they just stopped. If their not going to do it good the first time around, i rather they don’t do it at all, but i guess people love having… another talent row on your character that makes mounts behave instead of individually socketing each mount, allowing more customization.

Either way, can’t wait for the “upgrade” and see how much Blizzard screws up a good idea yet again.

I have a feeling if we all ask for an FOV slider, they will only limit it 55 to 65 degrees and say “Now you can play the game in any FOV!” and have 45 to 90 be the “3.0 upgrade”.

And don’t get me wrong, I actually like the idea of mount equipment. I think it’s a great idea on paper. but we can’t pretend their aren’t problems with this or things that have been negatively effected by it, and to say the strider didn’t change (when it clearly did …), i mean, that’s not being honest now.

I have noted that you brought the other notes from 8.2 wowhead. To the “you can get the mount equipment for free”… well… wouldn’t that mean their’s an extra step now to get the strider back to it’s effect that we had from the get-go?..before the…nerf? and not the same thing?

Well i played it on PTR and… well it’s not a socket mounts individually sort of deal, it’s a socket all mounts button… per character i might add… which is pretty lazy. So meaning if you want to give one mount parachuting, you give all of them parachuting. Which i guess seems self explanatory to the developers, but for players like myself, i want the ability to dictate which mount get’s the anti-daze, waterwalking and parachuting.

But i’l present a solution right here, well two infact. Make the mounts individuality socketable or just don’t bother if this is all your going to do.

Now 1 and a half year later, i don’t see anybody talking about it, not even in a “Oh this sucks” sort of thing, or even near the same mentions as something that is sort of forgotten like Glyphs or 40 man Raids. It’s just honestly sad to me that they’ve made it as it is where it’s irrelevancy almost felt like it was done on purpose.

I will say this, my prediction here didn’t age well now.

Watch, in 9.1, they will give us the system what they should’ve given us, individual socketing each mount and call it an upgrade. And while i’m being hyperbolic now, i wouldn’t put it past Blizzard if they actually do just that.

I just don’t think about it since I don’t really need them. I haven’t run into a situation where I don’t have flying. I mean, If I decide to do BfA, I might think about using it then.

useless, the ‘no more daze’ was never something I needed or cared about (although they did sell on the AH pretty well for 2 days until everyone realized how useless they were), Been a tank since Wrath and have never been dazed.
