they keep the rested xp longer from the dungeons completion
Unfortunately, chromie time was a band aid, the leveling experience is too big to really get a proper overhaul so yes, it is abysmal and frankly when I had a long break, taking someone through it now, only feels nice when I pick a class I never or barely play, race I barely or never played and really just have goals and kind of set myself in that world.
In short… BS myself into having it feel fun lol
i would say you might be lvl 40-45 but your not 60
I was quoting someone else. Youre not the only one in here sunshine.
Also, yes they dont boost XP directly. But if the rested XP decays slower then its absolutely an XP boost.
Ok great. Did I say “let’s make it like classic?” No. So what are you on about?
Did I say take away the speed? No. Again, wut?
I said it’s garbage for new people. I know. I just tried to level people through cuz they wanted to know what the story was and then ended up being like well… guess we can stick around here and 1 shot mobs for half a million and just do the quests. What an experience.
And I agree the low level story is a mess but leveling isn’t as fast as you claim either.
Alright so if you can hit 30 in a day and 60 the next day does it really matter? And that’s being generous.
You raise a fair point. No heirlooms.
I just can’t get to a place where the current leveling experience is good. It probably is necessary, in that it’s short and can quickly get a new player to top level, grab some primalist or dreaming gear. Throw them in the pool. It has to be easy, because nobody can go through six expansions to get to current.
But I’d like to see enough quests or zones to drag out the experience a little longer. The truth is I wouldn’t be happy with one or two, I’d like to see half of kalimdor, or six, or something.
I didn’t read this as a brag. There are some up right now “cleared Amirdrassil, too easy” (hint: mythic), but there aren’t many options to make levelling more difficult.
The only difference I have that you might not have is Warmode. Other than that, yeah it takes 1-2 zones to hit 60. And THEN it takes halfway through Oah Plains or whatever to hit 70. It’s awful from start to finish.
A new player isnt hitting 60 in 2 days unless they played 12 or 15 hours a day.
People really should talk in /played not time lapsed.
You do know that story quests are flagged differently to standard quests?
If you just do story quests you do all 4 zones hitting 70.
Man…
The point is… regardless if it takes 1 day, 2 days, or 1 month. Leveling to max level in 1-2 zones and a handful of dungeons/bgs is an abysmal experience.
If they want a story, give them a zone to sink their teeth into. You can fill in the details.
If they want the RPG experience, the new talent trees do exactly that.
If they want to experience group content, don’t. Not until DF at least.
If they want to do PvP, play a different game.
Bottom line, let them experience the game. We’re all so rush rush that we forget part of the fun of being new is having a mystery to solve. WoW offers that in plenty.
Or they can offer a 1-60 “here’s the story so far” experience. I mean the tutorial island was decent.
Be careful what you ask for. They’ll give you 10-20 and it’ll be Exile’s Reach 2.
I’ll take “Things that never happened” for $1000 Alex.
Would normally be a great idea
But then you brought this up…
Brother, teach them how to play their class. Teach them current dungeon mechanics. Explain how classes interact with each other in endgame content. If you want them to have fun, at least lead them in the direction where fun is being had.
Yeah I suppose it would be awful for people that play classic and in classic it takes weeks and months to lvl.
Bro I got 8 alts and lvl’d them all in about 6-8 hours each I ain’t got time for that. Tell them to watch a video recap, there’s plenty. The game is 19 years old. buu- buu- buuuu- mAh lvLiNg eXpErIenCe!!! Screw your lvling experience. Go play classic if you want that.
Preach, brother. Or go play any of the 900 other games that drag that crap out.
The amount of story this would have to cover in a “story so far” would be insane. You wouldn’t leave understanding it any better than you do now.
This would cover:
- The demon corruption of Night Elf lands
- The growing and corruption of Teldrassil
- Orc expansion into Ashenvale
- Goblin destruction of natural resources across both continents
- Dwarven archaeologists intruding on Tauren land
- Centaur tribal conflict
- The Silithid invasion and the death of C’thun
- Developing a new plague to destroy the living
- The war against the Scourge in the Plaguelands
- The Scarlet Crusade
- The appearance of the Worgen in Ashenvale, Silverpine, and Duskwood and the Scythe of Elune
- Troll blood rituals across Eastern Kingdoms
- The war against the Gurubashi
- The rise of the Defias Brotherhood
- Onyxia’s control over Stormwind
- The summoning and defeat of Ragnaros in Blackrock Mountain
- The kidnapping of Moira Thaurissan
- Nefarion’s Chromatic dragonflight experiments
- Finding the Discs of Norgannon and the entrance to Uldum
- The Emerald Nightmare
- The Dark Riders of Karazhan
And that’s just the memorable Vanilla storylines I came up with off the top of my head.
You’d get immediate whiplash from the story the proceeding through all the expansions and now there’s another war against the Scourge, the Death of the Lich King, the new Lich King, the new Lich King is kind of a jerk, the new Lich King is your friend, the new Lich King isn’t the Lich King anymore, now there doesn’t always need to be a Lich King.
And that assumes you played Warcraft 3 and even know what a Lich King is.
And you’re asking for all that and more to fit into the leveling experience.
