Overhaul the leveling experience. I’m bringing 3 noobs to WoW so we can play DF (convinced them painfully to play retail over classic), and the leveling experience is atrocious. We finished a single zone, did 2-3 dungeons, and 2 Bgs and already lvl 60. None of them have a clue what is going on and I haven’t played seriously since WoD so I might as well be just as lost story wise.
This is awful for new players. There needs to be an update for all the old content to catch up or a quest line that takes you around to the key events.
Whatever the case, this is a freakin mess to play through. Time-walking can exist to preserve the fossil content as it is (OR since Classic exists, just update the old stuff). Honeslty, Timewalking and having to make sure everyone is in the same stupid phase should also be redone. End rant.
Edit: We did southern barrens, hit lvl 20, turned Warmode on, finished southern barrens, went to Deepholm, finished Deepholm, dinged 60. Please continue defending being max level in EVEN 3 zones as being good for new players trying the game. There’s nothing compelling about it. The only part that was compelling was me having to tell my friends “it gets better at max level, that’s where the real game starts”. That’s a legit addict/shill response to have to give.
Edit 2: I’m suggesting an OPTIONAL questline line that takes new players from level 1 to the current expansions minimum level (currently 60). That quest line will feature all the pertinent lore for the most current expansion, providing new players (and old alike) a compelling single quest line that explains the who, how, why, what of the current storyline. Expand upon Exiles Reach/Tutorial Island as a means to teach players not only how to play the game/their class but also wtf is going on.
You wouldnt no matter what. The story just isnt combined. Can’t help with that. It’s not like we’d rather be leveling slowly from vanilla, tbc, wrath, etc. No one would finish all the leveling before the last expac ended.
Not really. You arent bringing in veteran. You are bringing in new people. They dont really need to go through the old stuff unless they wanna go out of their way. It makes a lot of sense for new people to join in closer to current expac. New adventures dont start decades ago.
They already overhauled it, it’s way way better then what it used to me. You don’t have to use timewalking if you don’t want too it’s so you can do wherever you want to level.
People don’t need to learn how to play the game in mythic from leveling. classic is not and will never be retial or what we go for.
That sounds like exactly the kind of level experience I want in an MMO. Get me into the current content as quickly as possible. TBH it sounds like another hour or two could be lopped off that and be fine.
It isn’t going that fast in Hyjal, where my draenei currently is. And I had to quest through sveral zones to get it to 30 so I could go to Hyjal. So, no, it takes longer than one zone to go from 1 to 70.
Hard disagree. This is a RPG, plot matters. It’s not a MOBA or an e-sport, no matter how hard Blizzard tries to push that angle.
The “old stuff” is what brings reason to the gameplay.
Their “overhaul” killed leveling, and everyone (4 people already) I’ve tried to bring into the game said the same thing: “Leveling is way too fast, scaling sucks”.
