So is the Pre 1.12 AV on LH which is a PServer with the old AV implemented…
Just a zerg. I should go record a match. Bring it back here and post the video and watch people in this thread try to explain why the elite NPCs and pre 1.12 BG with the land mines and everything still just gets zerged to the last boss.
Wonder what excuses people would come up with when forced to recognize that its the players, not the map and npcs…
Which players? the ones who didn’t want to be there in the first place? That’s why in live they added an ‘epic’ bg queue. patch 1.7 added BG holidays, which furthers the issue. If you are a player who wants to hurry up and get honor (especially bonus honor), move to next game, why would you not want to zerg?
It looks more and more to me you’ll have to find a premade team, or AV specific guild to get an enjoyable experience in AV.
Sure if you want to be pedantic about it that definition can fit. However we all know when somone references the “vocal minority” they are talking about the people who are extremely vocal about their stance that is only shared by a very small minority…
I don’t know that you can honestly call those that do not want 1.12 AV a “vocal minority”. From what I’ve seen and the people I have talked to most seem to want the battleground that generally lasts hours or possibly days. There is a quality to that sort of epic length of battle that makes it very attractive to many of us. It feels more like a struggle than most PvP engagements found in games today and makes the reward feel better.
You finally got the name brand cereal. Sat right down in isle ‘private server,’ cried, and got the cereal. Mama and Papa caved.
Continuing to cry because a few pieces in the bag -1.12AV- aren’t exactly what you remember or want, from the last time you had name brand cereal, is undignified and sad.
Just be happy with the high quality, stable, well maintained cereal. You don’t get it often, you hardly deserve it and it will be almost 100% as delicious as you remember. And infinitely better than the private server, off brand, nasty nuggets you’ve been snacking on.
I hope you hold true to your convictions and let Blizz know exactly how you feel, using your subscription as your voice.
I get that you and a bunch of your friends and other like-minded posters really really want an AV where zerging is impossible. You should, however, take into account that even on the Classic forums there is not universal agreement with you.
What do you think opinions would be if we polled the incoming Classic players?
And finally, we have the results of Vanilla, the actual Vanilla Playerbase. They clamored for changes to AV that led us to 1.12. There was not even support for endless AV in Vanilla.
You should think through some stuff before claiming the majority.
Even on the classic forum, which is adjacent to general discussion, where the bulk of anti-classic vitriol stems from? Seriously? That is what you are going with?
Your being overly accurate while willfully ignoring the general use of a term for the purpose of intentionally misusing that term… Thus pedantic.
As are you… There is no reliable evidence showing what more people would prefer one way or the other.
Please point to me somewhere that there is universal agreement on any opinion.
I think most would say they want the epic long AV. Some for the reasons I stated, more because they never experienced it but heard all the old warstories, and some more because that was something special in their memories.
Basically “people of the time thought these were good changes”… You know players of the time thought LFD was going to be a good thing look how that ended up. WotC thought DnD 4e was a greast idea and plenty of people in the community thought it was a good idea at first till we really got exposure ot it. I could give examples all day why that isn’t the best logic to use. Humans even in large groups think some things are a good idea till the idea is tried and they find out maybe it wasn’t.
I never stated I claimed the majority. I said it’s nto a clear enough defined line that the use of the term “vocal minority” as it’s used commonly applies and that your being pedantic in your use of that term and you still are.
Other than that these are changes made by blizzard during vanilla based on presumably feedback they got from the community at the time. And changes they apparently consider successful.
Again, if group finding tools were removed I doubt you’d find universal acclaim. You are presupposing that more people agree with you than actually do.
If there’s one thing these forums demonstrate it is that opinions vary.
Something else that is demonstrated on these forums, is that there are wildly different types of gamers here. For the most part, fans of vanilla type wow and fans of modern retail type of wow. Attempting to cater to both type of gamer is a very bad road to go down and misses the entire point of classic.
I am old school vanilla, while I would love a pre 1.12 AV to relive the experience. It really is a one and done of only so far as I could do the quests once (troll caves etc), then after that I would want more of a 1.12 style.
I know this doesnt change anyone elses opinion and epic AV games are awesome every now and then but ultimately I think quicker games are better for repeat play.
I don’t believe there is a hard line between Classic fans and Retail fans, certainly not as much as you seem to think there is.
Look at this thread, for instance. All Classic fans, opinions vary wildly. Read the post right after yours. Dude is an OG Vanilla player who likes BOTH types of AV (epic and zerg).
Most of the people excited for 1.12 AV are pretty much the posters I expected to want it. Not going to name names…you know who they are. But it’s the convenience-driven, super entitled mindset. Players who want to grind their honor and rep as quickly and easily as possible and then never set foot in AV again.
