🐍 Why should Sethrak be an Allied/Playable Race? 8.3 and beyond

I don’t in PVP, a panda killing another panda looks weird. That mural that showed pandas of different factions fighting in Jade Forest was also weird…and when it happened, the Sha were released…

It is an odd thing but it happened…

The Mogu coming up are more likely to be a Neutral AR than Sethrak will be.

Sethrak will most likely go Horde or Alliance if they are added. Horde more likely based on events in 8.0 and 8.1. But there definitely still are some standings for Alliance Sethrak with previous suggestions in thread.

I still want to know what the npcs datamined in 8.3 are going to be up to.

With both sides losing numbers to war, they may need help dealing with N’zoth and the invasions.

Its nice to see you again, I remember you as well.

But Mogu are also most likely to go horde because the only other race they ever called an ally were Zandalari trolls, they are literally ancient allies.

They were also xenophobic and hostile to any other race that wasn’t themselves or Zandalari, so I imagine Zandalari are going to be that bridge that connects them to the horde if the final AR speculations are true.

They must only speak to horde for a reason.

:snake: Would love to play as a Sethrak rogue

Fine by me as well. The only reason I would suggest them as Neutral is because of the Pandas.

I could settle for Mogu on Horde and Sethrak for Alliance or the Neutral race if we even get one. If Mogu make more sense for Horde than even the Sethrak, and Neutral AR is a no go, that could be enough for the Devs to use the tiny threads to put them on Alliance.

They’re the better options than say Lightbound Undead in my opinion. I am really hoping that that isn’t a thing.

This probably sounds like an old tune from me now, but I can’t see Sethrak joining alliance after everything the horde did for their people. This isn’t relatable to the nightbourne scenario, only 1 faction aided them, I would think this would really sit wrong with vorrik and even Sethralis.

Who do alliance deal with in the next patch? I only ever heard of mogu with horde, anyone special for alliance?

We’ve had this talk, that sometimes the most logical things are not what we get. But I think I can safely say that we are both on the same page that Sethrak for Horde does make the most sense.

Honestly I have no idea. Not sure if the Uldum Accord is Alliance specific or both factions. And they’re just a mix of Wastewander’s, Tolvir and Explorer’s League.

But I do find it somewhat odd that Sethrak npcs have been datamined for 8.3. But no idea where they are, let alone why. Other than just to taunt me.

Judging from blizzard’s immense imagination and its constant efforts to always reward the alliance with the most inspiring, I have faith that we will end up with some race of titanic cockroaches or undead squirrels.

After all we know that blizzard spends at least minutes a month thinking deeply about ally.

It was with this method of work that we ended up with voidblood elves and junkgnomes.

How could something worked with so much love not be unanimous?

I even imagine these races being introduced into the alliance with the destruction of Stormwind.

Allied races were a great idea, but Blizzard dropped the ball in laziness.
90 percent of the allied races are recolors, the other 10 percent are bad, I mean a fat pirate… they should’ve of used the skinny Kultirans as the race, pirates are malnourished in every movie, plus the Kultirans model should’ve been an Ogre Allied race for the Horde.
Sethrak should have be one of the allied races but Blizzard are either lazy and just made a recolor with glowing hair or … they are you know what.

Aren’t the Rajani and Uldum Accord neutral factions, like the Rustbolt Resistance?

Also, you seem to be under the impression that anything interesting should only go to Horde. Fortunately for you this is a viewpoint with which the game’s developers appear to agree.

I hate to agree with this, but it definitely seems true.

Yet we do have people who think they should go Alliance. And that is good! And not impossible to implement. Not hard at all.

I’ll suggest on this thread too, to make an ingame suggestion for playable Sethrak. I dropped my suggestion a month or so ago.

Because they are a unique, interesting race and people want them.

That should be all the reason Blizzard needs.

Yeah the elves are getting a little outta control… same with the goats. May have to get Lord Garithos back and get rid of all these animal races.

(Seriously though, I count one total)

The Mogu would be good for the Horde, don’t know how the Panda will feel about it but the Horde loyal ones already have taken a lot of abuse, they’re survivors.

Maybe it will be some magical faction of Mogu who are “good”

Only issue is that’s the horde getting another cool race, they need one that is mechagnome levels of disappointment to balance it out

It would be cool, I really liked the Sethrak.

But also I know it’d just be another time gated rep grind to unlock something cool like a new race, and I’m not willing to do that.

If we just got them like how we used to, just as a new race we could make and play right out of the gate in a new expansion, yes please, that would be great.

Louder for the people in the back!

And bring on the rep grind if it’s the stipulation to add them. I know people don’t like the rep grind for the allied races. But I would hate to miss out on such an amazing race. I’ll do the rep grind and then some.

But I am glad you support Sethrak.

I think they are supposed to be good. But who knows. Even if they are good I know they are at odds with the Pandas. The Mogu have a history of enslaving them after all. Hm.

And I agree that they should get the less exciting race next time around. Unless of course it is the ONLY way we get Sethrak, then I’ll accept them for Horde.

But I prefer Sethrak for Alliance as Worgen AR. Ya know, compliment Vulpera as their opposite and make it be the unique race for Alliance this time.

Let the Sethrak lend a hand with N’zoth. Or Shadowlands. Via The Uldum Accord or Heroes of Azeroth factions.

They’re popular, different and have interesting lore. There is a demand for them. It would make players happy. And bring Blizzard more revenue through subs, race/faction changes and level boosts. I don’t see a downside to any of that.

I will do any rep grind that enables me to play with a sethrak

It would do some good for the alliance’s self-esteem to receive something unique and interesting.

And even if it can’t be done for the alliance, then do it for the horde.

Let’s be real honest here, the reason the majority of Horde was nothing but blood elves for so long, is because the other races were troll, orc, forsaken and tauren, and neither of those races are particularly gorgeous, let’s be honest, elves are pretty, tauren are not.

There is a little point Blizzard wasting time developing a story line around a new Allied race at the cost of other content, let’s face it, most of us in real life would date an elf, but none of us would go out on a date with a snake man, sorry to be blunt but that’s the brutal truth.

I’m still reading through the thread, but speaking of Sethrak/Vulpera being natural counters to one another, I was thinking of other ways they could be written to go Ally, in particular.

Imagine if one of the earliest reasons the Sethrak started to enslave Vulpera in the first place, was to keep the local population from trying to eat their eggs. This would have been made worse as the condition of Vol’dun deteriorated and there was less food to be found.

(Now its important to point out, that though there is a large room of eggs, ‘Egg Tender’ npcs, and a huge guardian cobra in the Temple dungeon outside of Sethraliss’ room, that we don’t Really know if they are Sethrak eggs, or even if they lay them at all. They could be just snake eggs of that large species the boss is)

In this situation, even if the Sethrak stopped enslaving them, they still would be unlikely to be allowed to wander their cities freely. This would create a situation where they wouldn’t want to be on the same faction, and also not be in the poor position of being unaffiliated at all.

It just goes to show how much freedom the writers have when a new race is in the line without as much baggage to have to work with and account for.

Please give us sneks blizzard. Preferably alliance. We need something different!

Bold of you to assume I would not go on a date with a Sethrak.

If he or she is a good conversationalist, treats me nicely and gives me flowers, then sure, why not.

Many snake species give birth instead of laying eggs. So, yeah its up to debate as to whether those eggs are Sethrak eggs or their cobra companion eggs. But on that note, if they are the eggs of the cobras they raise, it is completely possible they raise them as livestock… Or at least a portion of them. There are many species of snakes that eat other snakes or just other reptiles in general. And when you live in a desert, where resources can be very hard to come by, you do what you can to survive.

I know Vorrik wants to reunite his people, Faithless and Devoted as one. And since the Faithless were the ones who were enslaving the Vulpera, it might be enough to nudge them towards the Alliance if Vorrik is successful. Not to mention I did some reading on the Vulpera recruitment scenario and it comes off as that the Horde isn’t actively looking to bolster their ranks with new allies. They seem reluctant. While the situation with the Mechagnomes appears to be met with far less resistance. I might guess the Alliance may be more eager to fill in their ranks. Look how many burned at Teldrassil. Innocent civilians and soldiers alike. And I think the Sethrak share goals more similar to Alliance.

Then the MVP’s idea further up the thread is very compelling as well. And different and definitely gets you thinking about all angles the Sethrak as a whole could join Alliance (or Horde). Be they the Faithless or the Devoted or some third faction of Sethrak we don’t know of yet.

There are so much possibilities with the open ended/intro lore and story line for Sethrak. How else might you consider them for 8.3 and Shadowlands?
