What if Blizzard had Paladin visuals on Void Elves be a blue-black void color implying that they merely mimic Paladin abilities using the void? It’s not like recoloring a suite of class abilities hasn’t been done before.
When a Warlock chooses to use green fire, the spells themselves don’t change what they do, or what school they are. So what if the same concept is the default for Void Elf Paladins? It won’t necessarily be the answer for those wanting to portray an Alliance High Elf light-wielding Paladin, but a simple glyph option could fix that if Blizzard were so inclined.
DISCLAIMER: I am not an advocate for Void Elf Paladins. I’m ambivalent to the matter, and merely throwing ideas out there for the sake of discussion.
People said that about Void Elves getting the BElf skins. Like, on both sides. Folks claimed this would be the end of the Horde forever if Void Elves had the BElf skins
Nothing changed.
The faction divide is a deepseated issue and one that will not be solved by giving new class options, or even new race options
I support Void elf paladins, and Void elf and Nightborne Demon Hunters.
There’re several ways Void elf paladins can fit in the lore. One way is in the manner the OP described. The other way is through Void themed paladins. While some will argue that paladins are a purely light based class, a paladin dabbling with the Void can be explained. Some might do so because they have such strong belief in the Light that they are confident they can empower themselves through usage of the Void without the weakening of their will. Some might do it as a way of boldly facing a challenge, determined to control and subdue the Void energies with their faith in the Light. There is no outright lore explanation that a Blood elf paladin who joined the Void elf ranks and decided to use the energy of the Void to their advantage would end up exploding, especially since paladins are not outright evidenced anywhere to be directly infused with the Light, but rather, to have the BLESSING of the Light.
As for Demon Hunters, Void and Fel do not adversely react with each other. Illidari Blood elves already exist, and as Void elves mostly comprise of Blood elves, it’s not a surprise that some who would join the Void elf ranks are also Illidari (DHs).
Nightborne should be able to be DHs as well since you can see Fel touched NB NPCs in Suramar, and seeing how much they hated the Legion it wouldn’t be a surprise that they’d request training from Illidan.
It makes sense. There’re more than just Blood elf exiles dabbling with the Void joining the Void elf ranks. Some are High elf wayfarers like the OP explained (and Steve Danuser). Some are Blood elves who probably don’t want to experiment with the Void but still wish to join the Void elves in the Alliance and be a part of their ranks. They started as a small group, but they keep on expanding, because how could Void elves be described as a race if they cannot have proper numbers in them?
I’ve not looked hard through this thread, I assume ya’ll’ve gone over blizz saying they’re considering things like Void Elf Paladins and how that could be done?
I’m curious if thats likely to lead to the class skins… thoughts?
Understandable. I honestly would never have expected them to say that specifically while talking about Void Elves. I always assumed one day more classes would be on the table, but that one being considered surprised me.
It’ll be interesting to see how that all plays out. (if it is a class skin and a “Void Knight” I’m class swapping my warrior.)
I WOULD PREFER A WHOLE BUNCH OF STUFF IN THE GOOD OLD WORLD OF WARCRAFT!
However, you just learn to not ask for too much, and try to keep it simple. If you start asking for all sorts of CREATIVITY they could just say “lol nope” right now.
