My Battle.net account (Darling#13575) was suspended approximately 15 hours ago yesterday for what was vaguely and nonspecifically stated in Blizzard’s email notification as “Account Hacking.”
Less than a month ago, due to my friends’ persistent urging to return to playing Classic WoW on the new anniversary realms with the release of BWL, they spent days insisting I come back to the game with my Warrior. After thinking about it for a couple of days, I decided to create a WoW account for this purpose. For over three weeks, I dedicated myself to the character, investing hours upon hours of gameplay to reach level 60 on my warrior and obtain my pre-raid BiS gear, along with my guild’s help in acquiring items like such as Lionheart Helm, Flurry Axe, and a few others.
Yesterday, in the middle of an UBRS run trying to get the TSS shoulders, my Battle.net account was banned. The only reason I was given was “Account Hacking.”
My account is US-based, but the suspension was issued by the EU moderation team. I appealed this illogical suspension under ticket number EU99011632, and the response from a BOT was:
“After a careful investigation of your Battle.net account, I can confirm that it has been found in violation of Blizzard’s End-User License Agreement. Additionally, during the period of the violation, I found no evidence that the account was compromised. Therefore, we confirm that the penalty is correct, and we will uphold the original decision.”
How is it possible for an account with less than a month of playtime—one that has only focused on leveling and farming dungeon items—to be suspended for this reason?
I need the assistance of an actual moderator to resolve my issue not an automated bot response. I use and pay for blizzard’s services precisely for this reason: to receive proper support.
I’m afraid the only answer you are going to get is the template response from the GM team. In hacking account actions, they will not go into details about what they detected as that information is something bot makers would love to get their hands on so they can avoid detection in the future.
As for the assistance of a moderator (Support Forum Agent or “Blue”), they are not GMs and do not review account actions. The team that applied this action is the hacks team, not the GM team. The GMs will not have any information about what caused the suspension either.
As for the “bot replies”, that is false. They are template replies to ensure consistency. If it was a bot, you’d have a reply in seconds, not hours or days.
All you can do is continue to appeal until they say no more appeals will be accepted.
You are always welcome to continue the appeals process until you are informed that no further appeals will be considered. However, exceeding that limit may lead to further account action. While mistakes do happen, they are not as common as some may suggest. Remember, the team is human, and errors can occasionally occur.
I’m not going to speculate on what triggered the suspension of your account, but I would recommend ensuring that no software, especially anything intended for other games or unrelated purposes, is running while World of Warcraft is active. This includes any programs that could potentially be used for automation.
Additionally, I would advise making sure that you’re not using any hardware or software that allows for macros. Each press of a button on your mouse or keyboard should correspond to a single, direct action in-game—nothing more.
I’m not implying that you’ve used such tools, as I have no way of knowing for certain—only Blizzard and you are aware of that. However, these are common causes of “false positives” when it comes to account suspensions of this nature
Good luck, and I hope everything gets resolved for you
I just want to put this with some correct information:
Blizzard uses templates for there responses. They don’t use bots, they don’t use AI. They use templates. Could you imagine replying to a lot of people and having to manually type the same thing over and over again?
With that being said, as others have mentioned, you’re only option is to keep appealing. If I recall, the action you received would’ve been dealt with by the hacks team. But regardless, Game Masters and Hacks Team doesn’t come to the forums. Only way is to appeal the decision via tickets.
Also, just one last thing, the appeals process is for Blizzard to check the logs. They aren’t there for you to plead your case. Now, this could be a mistake on Blizzard’s end, but I don’t have access to the logs to exactly say what it really is. Only way is to appeal.
Not entirely correct. No one that sets up an account in violation of our rules is safe.
We require accounts to be under accurate information. Since the account you are posting under - and the one you are inquiring about don’t match account holders, I’m afraid that is all anyone is going to be able to tell you - and the action is valid.
