Ah, so that’s why you said sh!t like: “Death comes for the soul of your world.”
And:
“All that you see, all that you know, will be undone.”
Oh, OH! And let us not forget everyone’s favourite:
“I will forge a new reality where all shall serve me.”
So let me just get this straight… Your idea of uniting the cosmos is basically unmaking it entirely, killing off everyone and… Just starting from the ground up like it’s Minecraft of some sh!t?
Very interesting way of looking at it since you supposedly wanted the cosmos to survive…

Well, yeah. He’s Sargeras but not on fire.

I mean…that was Sargeras’ whole motivation as well…burn the entire universe so the void lords couldn’t corrupt a world soul. They’re villains…their motivations are supposed to be contrary to what you think they should be…that is why they’re evil. His whole point is, i’ll just remake the cosmos in my image, that way there will be no division. He sees himself as the Arbiter of what the universe should be…seems like that may have been intentional.
Death comes for the soul of your world…because he is using it to power his reformation; all pretty simple motivations.

He should have just hired the almight invinsible murderhobos of Azeroth to deal with any threat.

I’m like 99.9999% sure this is the whole point of that line. Zovaal saw the Void and the Void Lords’ plans for what they are. He came to the (morally incorrect) solution of remaking the universe. The Nathrezim work for Denathrius and so work for Zovaal. When Sargeras learned of the Void Lords’ plans, he came to the same conclusion, and the Dreadlords are like “Let’s work with this guy.”
IMO this resolves a major story issue I had with Zovaal by preserving Sargeras’s agency and motivations and reinforcing the Void and the Void Lords as a cosmos-ending force.
Eh… maybe, but I suspect the picture is bigger for him. His wording makes me think that the Void is just one of the things that need to be united against whatever else is coming.

A cosmos divided can only lead to one thing:

Which seems to be an overused theme the writers don’t seem to be aware that they’ve been using since the very start.
“Oh no, we must unite to fight an even bigger threat.”
The scope of even bigger and bigger and biggerer, and biggerest and biggerester threats has become pretty laughable.

If Wrathion and Anduin do end up getting married, we can look forward to many more!

Maybe, but I think it’s more likely that it’s the same thing multiple characters in the WoW-verse have been warning about over years. It’s a consistent narrative that the Void is just impossibly powerful and scary. (Which makes sense, considering its nature is counter to pretty much every other cosmological pantheon in the universe. The Void’s whole purpose is mindless expansion and consumption, until there is nothing left.) Having Zovaal recognizing the Void as such a threat is logical in terms of the narrative.
The barbershop takes care of that problem.

I dunno, they seem to be just another enemy to the denizens of the Shadowlands. They tried invading the Kyrians once and they didn’t even have to call Maldraxxus for help to fend them off.
I feel like each of the forces is pretty focused on making the universe their own - even the Titans are obsessed with taking over planets and instituting Order, and all-consuming Life has been demonstrated by the Botani and the Sporemounds from Chronicles that they come from. The Void is no better or worse than any of the others.

This is quite an understatement. The Void attack on the Shadowlands was huge and was only just barely fended off. The side quest story also suggests that the attack happened in other parts, not just Bastion, and is why Maldraxxus didn’t/couldn’t come to Bastion’s aid.
We know that the cosmic forces are in this constant power play (see: the Light’s attack on Revendreth as another example). That’s not unusual. But I do think the Void has positioned itself as quite a bit more of a threat than any of the others.
[edit] Another interpretation is that this constant power struggle between the WoW-verse’s cosmology is the core problem, and it is a weakness that the Void is certainly looking to exploit. This would align with why Zovaal wanted to remake the laws of existence - to eliminate this built in power struggle that he saw as ultimately dooming the universe.

The doomsayers say the Void will howl in fear of the Darkness. Seems like Zovaal fears whatever that Darkness is.
We’ll see. The way they’re setting up the Cosmic Forces gives me more “they must all be in balance” vibes, which leads me to believe that the Void is not the endgame baddie we always thought it would be, but just another entity like the Titans that can be good or bad depending on the day and your perspective.

I agree with the interpretation of “they all must be in balance”. I think the crux of that is if they aren’t in balance, it’s the Void that will win out over all others.
