That’s quite possible, even though there is little question that such additions have become fashionable. As I have mentioned, I have little issues with a female model because I expect it to be optional.
That said, I have the impression that the people who are the most enthusiatic about female death knight/demon hunters on this forum tend to like it because they like ‘diversity’, in the ‘political’ sense. Point being, this is how the addition was understood by some on both sides of the issue.
I can agree that a few snowflakes are trying to make this political, and I hate that element of all of this. Especially when there are more things which need improvement in other areas. I’m frustrated on how the main topics are female death knights, ‘Blizzard is just a bunch of money loving liars’, and the campagin isn’t being changed as much as first thought (they’re still tweaking it, there just won’t be new dialogue for the main characters). Most of it is finger pointing and absurd ‘solutions’. None of it helps the development of the game.
Nobody complined about Nelf female dominance, because they started that way, and were not changed to it. In many regards, Nelfs are completely anti-feminist, and extremely xenophobic conservatists too, which just compounds the Amazon myth that theyt aimed for.
I have a funny feeling anyone claiming this is for political reasons, part of the SJW agenda, pushing progressivism, etc. are probably the ones that need to be handled delicately as to not get under their skin and not the other way around.
As much as I hate political agendas and social justice in the video game industry I totally agree with you.
Options are best for everybody.
