Warcraft 3 Reforged Patch 2.0.0 does not work on Windows 7

Considering this tread is about W3R 2.0 effecting a deprecated OS; namely win7, and legacy hardware, it would be prudent to have everyone effected aggregate here. This is to safeguard their voices, so that they don’t drown away in the cacophony of others voicing their issues.

I recommended it because they specifically mentioned the PTR not working.

With the patch testing the fix to Win7 functionality, it’s wise for that person to post there so that those involved with the new fixes can see that it’s not working for everyone.

In other words, having an issue with the PTR, be sure to report it in the PTR forum.

Hey Tratos hi… What are your hardware specs like? Does W3R launch? Are you able to reach lion’s gate? What issues are you facing? missing mouse pointer? graphics issues? sound?

It’s not irrelevant.

No, and how is my country of origin in any way relevant? You should think long and hard before asking questions like this, not just to me but to anyone. It could be construed as hate speech and could get you suspended or banned from the forum.

I’m sorry if you feel that way, but that is not the case.

My position is that in this particular instance, the poster in question is fabricating facts to make a problem sound worse than it actually is. “Exaggerating,” if you will. They made an unbelievable claim, therefore I questioned it.

It is especially hard to believe that they haven’t had any crashes between 2019 and 2024 unless they never actually played Reforged. Because even I, someone who is routinely accused of being a White Knight for Blizzard and allegedly defending them at every turn (which is not anywhere close to true), have had all kinds of different crashes with the game.
For years, the game would crash whenever I exited the game (doesn’t really affect anything, but a crash is still a crash). Tons of people got stuck (and still get stuck) at the Lion Gate screen. Still others have all kinds of random crashes, to the point that I would say this game is at least slightly more crash prone than the average game.

Aside from all of that, the game changed substantially in 2019 and again just recently- so telling people you didn’t crash in 2003 doesn’t mean much when there was also Reforged in 2019 that they may not have even played, and then Version 2.0 just now, where literally everyone with a Mac couldn’t log in to the game for a week or so.

If someone makes wild statements, I will question them in the interest of people not being led astray by false information. However, I’m not always right either, and if someone feels that I’m wrong, I invite them to prove it.

I won’t get banned because I’m not trolling. I haven’t done anything wrong. If you don’t like my posts, feel free to use your ignore list. But having a negative opinion of someone’s posts doesn’t make them a troll. If you’re so sure someone is trolling, then the solution is to ignore them. And if I was actually trolling, I wouldn’t be giving you this advice.

On the other hand, disparaging other users certainly is a violation of the code of conduct, so I’d advise you not to spread hate here.

In this thread, I am addressing wild claims with no evidence. I don’t want anyone to be misinformed or led astray by such statements. It’s as simple as that. If that offends you, well that really can’t be helped I guess and I would strongly advise you to just use that ignore list so you never have to deal with that person.

I see. Traros, can you check logs? it should be in this folder; User\Documents\Warcraft III\Errors\ and see what’s causing this error. PTR errors will be in Users\Documents\Warcraft III Public Test\Errors

Exactly, just opinion. The judgements and actions are solely at Bliz’s discretion.

It was something positive for you, Tenrai. Sorry you don’t see it that way. There’s no “blatant gas lighting” going on.

Otherwise, agreed.

Just installed the new patches 2.01. Game still freezes at lion gate. Here is the error I have in Crash.txt located in Errors folder:

I updated the game to 2.0.1 and after I deleted d3d11.dll and dxgi.dll, I did a scan and repair and for the moment, the game has started for me on Windows 7 without crash.

Forgive me for I was unable to reply back, apparently my messages were deemed harrassment

Any way, That exception has to do with graphics driver. Try removing -graphicsapi Direct3D9 and see if it works.

Hello

Game should be able to run fine after the lastest patch. If you’re facing visible units and mouse pointer issue it’s likely you’ve an integrated GFx card namely, intel HD3000 serise.

For now you can either wait for a patch or upgrade your hardware.

are units, mob, visible? How about mouse pointer? and what’s the FPS like?

only see the terrain, mobs or units are like slashes of light and pointer dont see fps 36
