Wallpaper, crash on launch

Hi,

You’re saying that my computer does not meet the NEW minimum system requirements.
I meet all the requirements except Metal Compatible GPU and that’s a NEW thing.

I bought Warcraft 3 TFT three years ago and it has been always working. I paid for it. Since the update 1.31, i was using terminal to lunch warcraft with “exec /Applications/Warcraft\ III/x86_64/Warcraft\ III.app/Contents/MacOS/Warcraft\ III -graphicsapi OpenGL”.
It was WORKING.

I can’t do the same now because the game is automatically lunch by your app Battlenet

There is two possibilities:

  • you allow us to lunch the game with openGL
  • you refund me because the game has become obsolete (IT WAS NOT BEFORE)

I also tried to write -graphicsapi OpenGL in the additional command line arguments box.

It still doesn’t work ! :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Wallpaper,

I moved you to your own thread to make sure my reply to you here didn’t make the other thread confusing or make it harder to find my post explaining the issue. We have not increased the system requirements for the game since launch. What we did was clarified something by adding the callout “Metal Compatible GPU”. All of the previous Minimum supported cards were Metal Compatible, we just made sure to clarify this externally because it may be useful information for people looking to upgrade.

If you check the mac system requirements, you’ll see that the minimum GPU for playing the game is a NVidia GeForce 750M. You have a 330M from your previous post. This means that your PC was never supported because a 330M is not a metal capable card. I wish I could bear better news here, but in this case your best bet would be to either upgrade to a more recent, supported machine, or request a refund. I can’t guarantee the refund will be approved, but if you’d like to do this, you’re welcome to give it a go.

Hello Drakyloth,

I bought warcraft 3 on February 17th 2018.

This is from your website:
htt://www.blizzard.com/fr-fr/games/war3/?locale=fr-fr&

  • 1,3 Go
  • 2 Go RAM
  • Mac® OS X 10.10
  • Intel® Core™ 2 Duo

htt://classic.battle.net/war3/faq/features.shtml
Macintosh® OS 9.0 or higher/ Mac OS X 10.1.3. or higher

  • 400 MHz G3 processor
  • 128 MB of RAM
  • 16 MB ATI Technologies or nVidia chipset 3D video card
  • 700 MB HD space
  • 4X CD-ROM drive
What graphics API do you support?
We support Direct3D and OpenGL. We do not support Glide.

Last year, I had some issue with 1.31 because the game didn’t support OpenGL to lunch… So I used terminal to lunch it with “exec /Applications/Warcraft\ III/x86_64/Warcraft\ III.app/Contents/MacOS/Warcraft\ III -graphicsapi OpenGL”.

Since 1.32 and the necessity to use the app battlenet, i can’t even use -graphicsapi OpenGL in the additional command line arguments box.

I don’t want the refund, i don’t want to upgrade my machine.
The point is, I wan’t to play the game I bought from 2003…

Wallpaper,

That is not the current Warcraft III Reforged System Requirements - that’s for the old CD version of the game. I’ll advise our external article folks that that page is still up and see how we want to handle it. Appreciate the information!

Beyond that however, we are not the correct forum to submit feedback. We are only here to provide technical support for the current Reforged client. If you want to provide feedback for this, please post in General Discussion.

This is absurd, you have all the code done, re-enable OpenGL support and end this ridiculous nightmare, I won’t spend another cent on Blizzard anything until you have this mess sorted out, not everyone have the lastest system avaiable, our computers are more than capable of running the game, all of this nonsense only reflects your laziness Blizzard!

Understand that Apple is phasing OpenGL out in their modern OSs. They don’t even use it any more in their own software. It may not be a simple as enabling it as it could have issues seeing it’s losing more and more support as time goes on.

How you could know that is questionable.

For example, if a GPU can’t use the modern APIs that the game uses, it can crash the game. If that’s the case, the client isn’t going to allow the game to run.

I bought the game released in 2002, I don’t care about the modern APIs that the game uses beceause I always could run it before.

The game I bought match the following requirements:
Macintosh® OS 9.0 or higher/ Mac OS X 10.1.3. or higher

  • 400 MHz G3 processor
  • 128 MB of RAM
  • 16 MB ATI Technologies or nVidia chipset 3D video card
  • 700 MB HD space

I just want the old game because it has been always working!

They just have to allow this comand line agin “-graphicsapi OpenGL”

If the game doesn’t use the OpenGL API, simply reenabling a command argument won’t have any effect.

Technology is always moving forward. WC3 was updated to use modern tech, which often includes leaving old tech behind.

If multiplayer isn’t important to you, you can always install an older version of the game and not let it update to Reforged. Everything you had previously (except multiplayer) will still be there.

Wallpaper,

As earlier mentioned, we are not here for feedback. Please review my previous post. Since you’re not having a problem that can be resolved by troubleshooting and not following support instructions, I’m locking this thread.
