I hope they hear the community feedback of graphics, please! The culling demo of Blizzcon2018 have the best graphics! Now this beta 2019 looks totally different and not good like the last year version, this is sad! This 2019 beta lost the realistic terrain, lightning, colors, cliffs, new ui, new mini map, shadows, shaders, graphic reflection and so much other things… I feel disappointed … But i hope the awesome graphics of The Culling demo from Blizzcon2018 back in the release! <3
The whole point of keeping the same engine is so that custom maps would be preserved and playable. If they went with a new engine they might as well not do a remake at all.
Myhria, you said everything now! Congratulations, i really hope they hear the community <3
I don’t know if a complete new engine can work with the original cross play, and it take much more time for a small dev team with a short window release.
I forgot to mention the trees too. The trees looked beautiful in Blizzcon2018 The Culling Demo. Now in this 2019 Beta looks strange and different
The game is looking almost the same as 2003, unfortunately. SC2 is still the king in RTS.
Terrain blending is used by WoW and SC2 since their first versions, so blizzard is pretty aware of this. But a breaking change in the terrain format would basically require every map made so far to be updated. Blizzard has promised on compatiblity, so they can’t do this.
Better sky and cloud shadows, I don’t mind.
Remove the requirement of compatibility with classic…
It’s ruining reforged.
The models and houses looking perfect. But the graphics still looking the Old Warcraft 3, but with models and houses updated. If this game have the graphics of The Culling Demo (I think in the release the perfect graphics will come, i hope) from Blizzcon2018, all will be fine! <3
That would be called warcraft 4.
The point of warcraft 3 reforged is that all thousands of custom maps made so far will continue to work “as-is” with no need for them to be reworked.
I mean, just weight it up… “slightly better terrain” vs “being able to play all custom maps that made wc3 glorious”… I doubt many people would like that tradeof…
True. Even the original W3 terrain is better in that aspect. Grass is just a waste of gpu. Just use the old W3 maps with the new trees and water and higher texture terrain.
Stop whining about graphics btw. This isn’t a benchmark game. Graphics are awesome and the game is running well.
Honestly I cant understand this whining about terrain. Its freaking RTS game where especially in multiplayer, you dont freaking stop to stare at the terrain and how nicely it “blends” together…
To me personally it looks fine as it is and there are lot more important issues that still need improving than the terrain.
Agree whit that
No we “whining” because unlike you we want the terrain to have better and updated visuals for a 2019 standard.
It would be Warcraft 3.5 (hinting at a complete overhaul instead of just a remaster)
There’s probably about 5-10 noteworthy custom maps, and honestly applying terrain to that wouldn’t be that difficult.
Also, it’s not “slightly better terrain”, it’s a s%$#load better terrain, versus a few custom maps which could be reworked - I know what I would prefer.
Most people have come for updated campaign / melee / terrain… Or haven’t you been reading the forums?
The game is freaking remaster of 17 year old game that runs on EXACT same engine as the original.
I might understand your complain if this was brand new game we were talking about, but its not. And like said, finishing effects on units models should take priority at this point than making the terrain look nicer.
not exact same engine, for example, in wc3 engine was impossible to use processgenerated shadows. The game-mechanical part is the same, but graphicaly they using the new one to overcome limitations of old engine. Terrain is about graphical part - so they possible to change it to the next level.
The terrain of The Culling demo from Blizzcon2018 is perfect. Now the terrain of beta 2019 looks old and strange
I noticed that RTS and Park Simulation players pay an inordinate amount of attention to terrain. Must be the Top Down perspective.
I think they will hear and will try fixing <3
