Steam Proton support for Linux

Hi!

There is already a discussion about native Linux support, which I strongly support and prefer:

However, in case the development team rejects this wish for whatever reason, I would like to propose as an alternative, in order to make Warcraft 3 (Reforged) playable under Linux: Wine and Steam’s Proton.

What do you think? I am really looking forward to seeing the development team supporting the compatibility with Proton and Wine.

Sincerely

You dont even need to use proton-layer of steam. It will propably be working just with dxvk + wine. There will propably be lutris build/install for it to make things even smoother.

It is a bit tricky to get installed but once you do it runs flawlessly.

It should become very easy to install once Reforged is released since it’ll install right from the battle.net client:

Before that though, you have to install the battle.net client and with that up and running, install Warcraft III.

The game runs really well with the latest DXKV library and the latest version of Wine.

The Lutris script can be found here:
