Some units cannot use waygates

Some flying units cannot enter way gates. If you host a melee map with a way gate, such as Ice Crown, you will notice that some flying units cannot enter way gates, and as such have to traverse the terrain between way gates the ordinary way. Currently affected units are:

  • Druid of the Talon

It is very disadvantageous for the player who is using these units, as all the other aerial units can use way gates just fine, while the above mentioned ones cannot. Can you please either make these units able to use way gates, or make all other aerial units not being able to use way gates?

No is not.

I’ve noticed this happening with Destroyer once, haven’t yet noticed if it’s the same with Druid of the Talon.

Yes, both of them have this issue. The only common thing between druids of the talon and destroyers that I can think of, is that both of them are “flying” and “morphed”, unlike other “special” units who can use the waygates with no problem, like Owl Scout and Phoenix who are just “flying”, or Druid of the Claw who is just “morphed”. Interestingly this bug only affects melee maps, i.e. if I converted a melee map with portals into a custom map by adding a blank trigger and saving it, then destroyers and druids of the talon can go through the waygates just fine. Initially I thought its because the map that I originally checked it on was in the classic .w3m format, but then I added a tavern and saved the map as a .w3x while keeping it as a melee map, and destroyers and druids of the talon still couldn’t go through the waygates. This can’t possibly be intentional, as it makes all the melee maps with waygates essentially rigged in druids of the talon’s and destroyers’ opponent favour, and therefore it is definitely a bug, but I wasn’t able to figure out why does it happen with the limited access that I have.

Has this been tested on 1.28 or older?

Nice point, I presume Medivh also affected by this glitch if someone edited him into a melee map and made them playable unit (by Possession/Charm/Scepter of Mastery, Rune of Rebirth, etc) since his template similar to Druid of the Talon.

Actually, Phoenix (and Gargoyle) also affect by this bug (but not if they haven’t been turned into Egg/Stone Form). It seems that Air units those transformed or derived from ground units are all affected by it.

Now I tried out, with different factions on 4v4 maps.
There should be an easy rule (like in other games) that: No flying units should use WayGate (big dragoons/wyrms/chims should fly on map not teleport).

But seems that is not the case in Reforged, so we need a feedback from managers to confirm + investigate this.
