Reforged Retcons Walked Back

Better graphics, and compatibility with modern computers. Same reason why people bought Starcraft Remastered. Also, WoW Classic appears to be a success, even though it is exactly the same game as in 2006. Did you play either?

If there is nothing else to Reforged than a new coat of paint and compatibility, it’s not worth 30 bucks. 20, maybe.
That’s my stance right now in regards to Reforged. Since you have access to the old campaign (With or without Reforged graphics), a new version of that same campaign shouldn’t be an issue if it was made, shouldn’t it?

And in case you actually want an answer regarding Classic: Yes, I did. And that came for everyone who had a WoW subscription, unlike Reforged which is a separate purchase.

WarCraft 3 is perfectly compatible with modern computers. And to cancel their promises is very ugly on the part of Blizzard.
I bought StarCraft Remastered largely because I was promised a translation of the game into my language, which was not originally there. And I got what was promised.
WoW Classic is really popular because there is simply no legal alternative to it. At the same time, there was no change in the schedule there. By this logic, should Blizzard just have to release WarCraft III again? The same one. Without changes. Are you a change in graphics violates the atmosphere of the game? Or didn’t you say this during the development of WoW Classic? Hmm? Yes, I played it. The gameplay is quite varied, and the graphics are hopelessly outdated despite the addition of dynamic shadows. Although the game certainly has its own charm, the need to interact with other players really changes the game experience. But if the graphics were improved in it, nobody would feel worse. However, in the case of WoW Classic, Blizzard promised to recreate the very “experience of the classic.” In my opinion it turned out. Although I can’t judge for sure, because then I didn’t play vanilla and considered WoW a mockery of the beautiful RTS, which would put an end to its development.
Now they promised me a “reforged” Warcraft. They said that I will get a new graphics, a new voice acting for my language and the missions of the campaign will be redone in accordance with the realities of the current LORE. I also bought it. And 2 months before the release, what do they tell me? Sorry, but you won’t get the product in the form in which we promised you, because some of the people from the comments said that you didn’t need such a game. What is more important for Blizzard? Some kind of nolifers who instead of games are sitting on the forums or those who pay them money?

Very sad and disappointed to hear that. I really want the alignment of story with that of WOW, and that why I pre-ordered the game! New models and textures are just NOT WORTH IT!!!

So your problem is that Blizzard “promised you” something (actually they announced some changes and never clarified what exactly they would be), and then changed their minds. It seems quite clear that you would have been okay with just new graphics and new voice acting in your language if they hadn’t mentionned anything else.

Sucks to be you I guess but, like it or not, they really did listen to their fans on that one. I suspect you would have been disappointed in any case: this never sounded like it was going to be a brand new game. More like Warcraft 3 with the alteration of a handful of lines or in-game cutscenes.
As far as I understand, map layout changes are still going to happen, but we will know for sure tonight.

Speak for yourself. This small community of wc3 purists are stripping this game of its potential. You could’ve had the old and the new campaign. But no, even when something doesnt affect you it’s gotta be put down.

I hope that a change of landscape takes place. After all, the campaign doesn’t need any global change, but some small details that would just make it a little deeper, the appearance a little more expressive … And not rectangular cities with new textures.
I do not advocate a conditional desire to add into the game an alternative Draenor, but nobody seems to have promised this.

Despite all the amount of negativity that I received today, I am still waiting for this game. After all, the graphics will be in it. After all, there will be a new voice acting. Finally there will be a correct translation, not “Grom Bully” instead of Grom Hellscream. Yes, and many my friends finally bought a game - at last it will be possible to play custom maps to more than one fool (or download not very legal versions to play with friends who refused to pay the full price for such an old game).

But honestly, I want a little more Reforged than Reskin.

Budget and time constraints is why they are doing what they are doing. This is a bigger project then they thought. That is why they are not adding minor details.

The love-sick puppy version that still does exactly as she needed to because they wouldn’t really want to change a major narrative beat and moment in the plot like that?

Warcraft lore is Warcraft lore.

Some of the changes that we could’ve seen in Reforged’s campaign would be changes that started happening as early as 2004.

WoW is just the primary platform for Warcraft lore, not the sole one.

I had no idea players controlled what skins get developed when skins are also a day 1 announcement alongside the game itself.

Not to mention those younger Warcraft 3 versions will still probably be skins for melee anyway. The Spoils of War stuff is just extra sh!t.

Honestly I know it’s the optimist in me but I’m pretty sure it’s a safe bet to say that a tremendous amount of campaign models might be available for ladder play.

“I don’t agree with someone, therefore they are idiots”.

Big brain time all over this place.

Rolled back cringy changed = Light be praised!

War3 purists and fans are probably the targeted audience - if you want anime-action and waifus, go play WoW.

That’s a really ill-thought argument. First and foremost the reason you should want to play a game is for the game play. One is an RTS, the other is a MMO… with a monthly subscription. New features should be welcomed if they don’t disrupt the existing ones. Also they said they wanted WoW players to come checkout what WC3 was all about which is why their art is influenced by the WoW style. And even people new to RTSs. So no, it’s not all about the purest… though they may have the most influence as it stands…

Turning her from an independent person with a minor crush (that truthfully I didn’t even notice until my third playthrough) versus drooling all over Arthas and making it a legit romantic plot kinda changes the narrative when the chief goal of the campaign is literally Arthas’s downfall and his descent from Morally Good to Grey to Evil.

Not if they want to someday create a Warcraft 4 it isn’t. The lore’s already diverged, deal with it.

Hmmm… That’s mighty convenient considering that “Warcraft lore is Warcraft lore.” Warcraft 3’s lore ended with Warcraft 3. End of discussion, that’s all the game is about and it’s all it covers. Turning it into a WoW prequel defeats the underlying purpose of ‘Reforging’ it. You don’t reforge a Sword into a Bow.

Turns out despite your ridiculous amount of spam on the forums, Hive and Discord prove that in actuality you’re the vocal minority. I’m just one of the few who bothers with this forum.

Congrats to you! we are going to get the laziest re skin ever.So we are not going to see Saurfang? :frowning:

Haha. So you guys think they are no long remastering the campaign because of the community and not to save money/time? People like the OP just gave them a good excuse to do a half the job they had to.

Yeah, like we’re not even getting an engine update, being brought into the Battle net launcher, or having new map maker tools being made available  So lazy. Wow.

Half the job? It’s taken them a year just to get the hundreds of thousands of assets updated, let alone the engine work and backwards compatibility. They literally promised nothing concrete, only that they’d ‘try’ to do certain things.

DeathlyGod How much effort do you think it would take to remaster the campaign with new stuff? They are not even going to record the sounds of the campaign, they are reusing the originals. Yes, half the job they originally had to.
