According to an interview with Polygon, the plans to change Wc3 story to have ‘parity’ with WoW elements has been walked back after the majority of the community gave solid feedback that they enjoyed the current story and it didn’t need to be changed.
We did it boys. No more God-mode Sylvanas or Side-lined Thrall for Wc3!
shadowlands trailer pretty much showed what WOW is now.
They ran out of enemies to kill, so now we’re going into the afterlife to kill em again plus their new friends.
Well, this could have gone a lot worse.
They’re probably doing it just so they can release the game on time though.
So its old campaign still? Or are we getting changes to geography of maps like culling but no actual story changes?
like what does this mean? That will old campaign just get graphic update? Becuz thats zero changes. Thats just a skin update…
I would prefer old story with maybe some geo changes like culling map.
I think we’re still getting the map changes, they’re just not re-recording dialogue or anything.
According to the article, there could be changes to maps, but they’re not doing the whole “Shift the focus to the side characters who didn’t get to shine as much, like Jaina and Sylvanas” that they wanted to originally. Probably they were thinking about taking out some levels, and adding in others that showcased those other characters more.
It never came across (to me, at least) as a full “shift” they wanted to do but more just additive.
Yeah.
Still, this is somewhat good news. Means when WoW Classic finally gets shut down for good I can just fall back to Warcraft 3 Reforged for my Azeroth fix.
They said they were keeping the Campaigns the same length, so the only way to show more spotlight is to replace your old content with new content.

I would honestly be upset that they wernt doing a reamped wacraft 3 story… but after seeing the new wow cinematic… I dont want any marry sue nonsense in wacraft 3
Like the prince of one of the most powerful kingdoms of humanity who is also a paladin that was brought up as one by one of the original few paladins and also taught how to fight by a well known Alliance veteran that was also a thane of the Bronzebeard clan? That was also the chosen one and future vessel for one of the orcs’ leaders that was personally ripped apart and reshaped into a demigod-like being as the lord of the dead.
sylvanas is a whole new level since she can make all the stuff alone without an army just by her self
As of right now Sylvanas probably still needs val’kyr to raise dead on her terms. Unless something new happens and develops in Shadowlands.
Ohh… your one of these people… defending marry sues by bringing up other characters that might be a gary stue… sorry but please dont defend World of Wokecraft
Defending Sylvanas would also have to include denying or explaining away that she has some of the thickest plot armour I’ve seen in a long time.
Saurfang only manages to land a hit on her because the script needed him to while she doesn’t even flinch in the face of the new Lich King? Let alone get touched?
But they advertised it last year like it’s some kind of a big deal, so… Isn’t it false advertisement in some way if the entire idea is scrapped?
Of course we didn’t know what exactly will be changed or added, but yeah.
If entire thing is really scrapped then i think it’s more about not having time to develop this, seeing the state and how close to the end of the year we are with no release date and stuff like that.
It would be an optional reforged campaign at the end of the day, not something that replaces the original.
I guess the actual panel will tell us more.
Yeah, that’s the problem I guess with the whole “Radio Silence” for an entire year… Just frustrating that we get maybe 45 minutes for it, and a few side interviews with news companies. /sigh
And what about all the characters ? Like Anasterian ? Those aint making to the game or what ?
I think Anasterian will still make it into the final release, maybe as a hero defending the Sunwell alongside the golems we see in the original.
Personally I would love to see that one scrapped sidequest in the Awakening of Stormrage level with Tharifas. He got a unique model so I hope they considered that.
