Ye except on MUCH bigger scale. If Blizzard would want to “play it safe”, they should just retell the events of WoW from RTS perspective, cause while that would not satisfy either Warcraft RTS fans nor WoW fans completely and likely would be the most boring option, it would work as compromise.
The other two choices would be to assume that everyone has played WoW and all its expansions (and liked their story) over the years and show middle finger to everyone who hasnt or show middle finger to WoW players and scrap its story from the way of alternative timeline.
Ofc the 4th choice would simply to set Warcraft RTS game to something like War of the Ancients, but then it really should not be called “Warcraft IV” as lorewise it would be more like prequel.
I really think this would be the best way. Especially this seems to be the only way without pissing off anyone. And the title… I don‘t think thats going to be a problem. Simply ‚Warcraft: War of the Ancients‘
Or ‚Warcraft: Azeroth‘ - to keep things open for DLCs, Addons and stuff

And you will be the one disappointed with it if you really think they are going to throw out 15 years worth of story telling and lore building. That was precisely my point.
- 8 maps got redone. That comes out to one map per chapter. So it isn’t the same thing and doesn’t fulfill said promises.
Suck it and play Classic WC3 if you don’t want any changes.

Yeah, like 20 people on the forums swayed a huge corporation to pull features from their game…
I strongly believe Blizzard had not even started work on the other cutscene’s and whatnot after Blizzcon. The evidence for this is because we can look deep into the WC3 files and see that there is only the remake of the ingame cutscene that was shown at Blizzcon.
They literally had only created the remastered CG cutscene and the ingame cutscene to market the game at Blizzcon.
These people exist and I said that I respected their position is everything (they don’t mine but anyway)
That blizz really did it for them?, I doubt that much.

Most people are upset about being cheated.
If Blizz is unable to comply with what is shown in blizzcom 2018 in time, I would have said that I will delay certain characteristics.
There would not be so much fuss.
Delaying is better than canceling.
Don’t misunderstand the campaign was canceled months ago but people noticed it now.
Blizz could still save some of the fans’ confidence if he announced that he will fulfill this in the future.
But I don’t think they do, this is not No man Sky.
