A disturbing thought just hit me a few minutes ago and I wanted to make a desperate plea to Blizzard.
In Diablo III on PC, you need to always be online in order to play. This is why I switched to the console version, as far as I know this restriction was lifted there.
Please, for the love of all that is holy and just in the world of Azeroth, do NOT require us to always be online in order to play Warcraft 3 Reforged. PLEASE.
If you didn’t already notice, all games on the Blizzard Launcher require online-only. The Blizzard games that don’t aren’t supported on the launcher, they’re run outside of it, like Diablo 2 right now.
I haven’t noticed any games on the launcher that don’t require an online mode, and I doubt that will be the case once Reforged is out. I did a quick search and SC Remastered is online-only, though there are also search links talking of a crack for offline.
Brave of you to assume I play any game outside of Wc3. Brave, but foolish.
And literally none of that validates your first comment. It’s really non-constructive. So cool, all of the Bnet launcher games require online access. Hopefully they buck the trend, or figure out a way to let you local-launch it. I remember there used to be a shortcut hack to launch SCR without internet/without the launcher, but I don’t keep it on hand.
Oh god, he’s right! Without internet StarCraft Remastered doesn’t launch the Remaster but only the Vanilla game, you can bet your a*s that in order to play with “Reforged” assets you’ll have to be alwais online.
Same thing for StarCraft 2, offline you only have campaign and meelee map that you recently played
yeah thats the most disgusting thing in games that its always online, so it means that every time you launch a game it automatically loads whatever content and changed they have wanted to make or even make game to be unable to be played.
so if you think that something is in the game it could be removed at any given time without you even know it.
thats why i trust offline games more. they are always what i espected them to be.
One of the best things about War3 is that you do not need the Internet to play.
If War3 Reforged has a conquest system, it is likely that you will need to make an internet connection
They can provide an offline version, as it exists in SC2
Being online all the time will kill all these “garena” or local area network sharing tools(websites), that people use to play warcraft 3 for free.
Some people would argue that (Private local sharing) have a better control over leavers and other harrasing problems, i’d disagree tried once sucks. the only “pro” i can see with being offline-playing is better latency in games, (such as in tournments or lan). these are tho a small number of people and blizzard could probaby implement those in bigger events). I’d also beg different today as Network works much faster, than when wc3 was released. (solo playing); Warcraft from what i’ve experinced isn’t much of an Solo game, as it’s a MMO(except campaign). I wouldn’t really care if they removed it, if anything it might bring more players to Bnet for playing, instead of using “different” methods to play wc3.
The huge downside is you can’t play the game if you lose your internet connection.
Not being able to play the game I bought whenever I want is a huge downer.
Actually he’s wrong. I just tested this now.
You can play SC Remastered without an internet connection. whew
You need to have already run the game once with an internet connection first though so it can download all the Remastered data. But after that, you can play Remastered without internet.
Sure, that is a downside, however what is there to play on a game/s that is based on MMO? Playing against a computer or by yourself is very lackluster.
Now there are some few custom games i can get behind, that are still playable alone. however extremly few and often funnier with more people.
"having a choice would probably be the answer to this reply however, the benefit that it takes away, from those small gathering places. Where people play and still probably do on local area network, to the bnet.
Almost correct. The remastered features are on a “timer” of sorts. When you log in, you activate a 14 day period where you can play with the remastered graphics without having an internet connection. After that, they turn off again until you log in once more.
Granted, it’s been a while since I played it so I don’t know if they’ve changed it since but at least the SCR forums don’t seem to indicate anything to that effect.
